A sinking feeling inside me is saying that, even with evidence, the POTUS (and, by extension, the US) will let this slide.
And why not? After all, we let North Korea’s extrajudicial killings slide, and they don’t spend a dime on our weapons systems. Besides, Trump has already announced to the world that it’s all right. He was a journalist and hence an “enemy of the people”. Still, it’s a bit of hubris to whack him in a consulate in another country. Why can’t they be like Russia and just gun them down on the streets or in their apartment buildings? I guess there was no way the Saudis could lure Khashoggi home so he could be a victim of road rage.
Congratulations, America. We are now a rogue nation.
of course he will, this prince is his good buddy and single handedly bailing out Trump Hotel in NYC. Trump has already shown he doesn’t care by saying the Reporter wasn’t a US Citizen
All those nonexistent arms deals, they typically have offsets where the US promises to buy additional stuff from the country in question. So the net result on the US economy is even smaller than the numbers after you peel back the first couple levels of lies.
Trump has claimed that he wants to get to the bottom of the columnist’s disappearance, but has stopped short of threatening to pull out of the U.S.-Saudi arms agreement, which could rake in hundreds of billions of dollars for the U.S., he said Thursday.
The mark of a true Master Negotiator: play your Trump (no pun intended) card first!
“You guys really like our badass weaponry? No problem! Let’s take that off the table right now and then we get down to brass tacks.”
I think that for the last 70 years or so the deal has been, we buy oil from you, you buy weapons from us.
And all the other shit we do isn’t talked about.
Turkish government officials told The Washington Post on Thursday that it has video and audio evidence that they say proves Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi was murdered inside the Saudi Arabian Consulate in Turkey just days ago.
Wow! That Omarosa sure does get around, doesn’t she?
We give loan guarantees to help fund most of the arms and other purchases our so-called allies (like S. Arabia, Israel, Egypt) make with US companies, so when they default we pick up the tab. I’d sure like such sweet deals with my vendors.
Yest. or day before Dolt45 made some sympathetic comments about journalists, sitting behind the Resolute desk looking so resolute with his hands wedged in his armpits, the #1 Big Baby “tell” that a Big Baby whopper is coming out of his mouth. These barely audible whines preceded his four times complaining we might lose $110bn of business with the House of Saud (aka House of Murder). That and the fact that one kind of noise comes out of that hole in his face one minute and some opposite noise a minute later means you can be sure Jared’s little boy-crush on MBS will govern whatever is done about Kashoggi. In other words, nothing.
