Anyone surprised that no check was sent? . . . I didn’t think so.
Worse and worse. Always worse and worse. No shame at all, no conscience.
So they’re saying that trump did make a promise and never followed through, and now they’re being asked, sending the check confirms that.
Remember when he said he’d donate $100K to a veteran’s charity but never did until a reporter shamed him into parting with the cash by revealing he wouldn’t let it go? THAT’S why Whiny is so pissed at the press. Count on it. You know what a White House spokesman said when a Post reporter asked about the money?
“The check has been sent. It’s disgusting that the media is taking something that should be recognized as a generous and sincere gesture, made privately by the President, and using it to advance the media’s biased agenda,”
She ACTUALLY said “The check is in the mail.” One of the three classic lies of all time.
Josh, please don’t let this one go either.
A million. And four months went by and they lied that it had been sent but it wasn’t.
Reporter wouldn’t let it go. I guess Whiny finally donated the money but he was pretty pissed about having to do it. LOL
Very. Very very. Because it feels soooo good in the moment to claim you’re giving the money and make people say thank you you’re a good guy, but it doesn’t feel nearly as good to actually give it. Because then you have less money. : (
I thought it was great that the reporter (damn, I can’t remember his name right now) forced Whiny to write a check for 100 large because one of the few things he actually cares about is money.
We all forget something on occasion (I remember when I signed up to send cupcakes for the 3rd-grade bake sale at my kids’ school and forgot until that morning - but I turned on the oven and got going at 6 am to honor that promise.) But this isn’t in the same category. Trump says literally anything to appear as though he is human or a hero, yet he invests nothing in his words. We can’t have a functioning government with a leader like that, nor can we be trusted in the larger world community. It will take years for the U.S. to earn back some trust.
I believe you’re referring to David Fahrenthold @ WaPo.
Disgusting little vermin
It was “1,000 large” and the reporter was David Farenthold at WAPO.
Maybe the terrorists in New Jersey Whiny saw clapping their hands in glee as the Twin Towers collapsed, stole the check.
Whoops. Not enough zeros.
It’s easy to think these donations are from their own assets. They’re not. They put their name on a foundation and collect other peoples money to forward to the recipient.
It’s good PR.
The WH’s reply was essentially: “Can’t the President lie about offering financial support to grieving families without the media nitpicking about it all the time? Jeez!”
In a statement to the Post, White House spokesperson Lindsay Walters said “[t]he check has been sent,” and that it was “disgusting that the media is taking something that should be recognized as a generous and sincere gesture, made privately by the President, and using it to advance the media’s biased agenda.”
okay
Let’s give Trump credit for the charitable giving he claims to do. On that side he’s very generous. On the actual giving side you can confidently take it down to zero most of the time. But for claiming, he’s the bigliest.
Trump’s foundation went a step further – he took other people’s money and forwarded it straight back to himself in most instances.
