It’s time to cut way, way, WAY back on the “tRump lies again” story. To cover tRump’s lies means giving tRump extra coverage. And almost all the time, it means repeating the lie in order to explain why it’s a lie. That gives tRump even more coverage.
We need to do that a lot less, president or no.
I disagree. The press must keep calling out every lie. But they have to call it what it is, a LIE. Not “without evidence” and “without proof” but a lie, plain and simple. That’s the press’s job.

These type of efforts to by the Post, etc are an important part of shifting the narrative. You can’t with Trump play the “both sides” game, nor do he said, reporting, and then put on a D to try to correct the lies.

However, that is what they are NOT doing. The headline should read, each and every time: LIE: Trump states _____, but the MSM very rarely says that.
Don’t forget, that’s per rally. He’s been doing 2 or 3 a day, so that works out to about right.
Every question for Hucksterbee should quote some lie or absurdity (“the press is responsible for the violence because of their questions”) and have her justify it, and then a followup on her dissembling or non-answer or berating the questioner. And then the next reporter should ditch whatever else they were going to ask and follow up further. This should have started from near the beginning when what was going on was totally obvious.
But this has never happened. The reporters have continued, with few exceptions, to act like they are dealing with a normal press secretary in a normal administration, week after week after week. They have almost never gotten anything useful from this absurd empty theater.
I agree with you that bothsiderism and faux even-handedness are cancers on the body politic, but I also think that tRump’s lies get more coverage than they should. A lot more. There’s an old saying that a defamation lawsuit spreads the libel. Covering tRump’s lies so much spreads them.
