From the guardian

The report, based on multiple though largely anonymous sources that included the president’s own advisers, has the potential to cause political, and even legal, trouble for the White House because it draws Trump himself much closer into the fray over the Trump Tower meeting, which has become a lightning rod in the Russian affair.

Shunning the guidance of lawyers, and overturning the view apparently reached by Kushner and his team of advisers that a full and frank accounting should be made, Trump reportedly dictated a statement on board Air Force One as he was flying back to Washington from the G20 summit in Germany. As would soon become apparent, it gave a very partial and distorted account of events.

Nobody could have predicted that electing a pathological liar would lead to so much lying.

This story has Reince Priebus fingerprints all over it.

Saw Richard Painter (W’s ethics lawyer) on Brian Williams last night. Painter actually called for Trump to resign over this.

Focus, people. This is all about leaking. THAT’S the problem here.

Gee, I wonder where this leak that puts Kushner into a somewhat better light but throws POTUS under the bus came from.
Kushner himself is possible, of course, but Mike Pence does seem to be making plans. And what better time to release it than when there are so many potential disgruntled ex-employees…

When Trump dictated the obstructing statement, he was just kidding.

Priebus, unlike most Trump advisers left over from the campaign, had no NDA, and so is now free to tell his side of the story. Bullying from Trump’s stable of gang lawyers should be comically ineffectual.

…and the Senate is dropping “Repeal and Replace.” Donnie has another sad. Sad.

Mick just got slapped!

“I don’t think [Mulvaney’s] got much experience in the Senate, as I recall,” said Cornyn as he made his way into the Senate chamber. “And he’s got a big job. He ought to do that job and let us do our job.”

Well, of course he did. Smarter than his lawyers, smarter than the communications staff, smarter than the PR people, smarter than the special counsel and his staff, smarter than the investigative journalists - thinks things through logically and thoroughly and plays the long game - and Jr. will do whatever Dad says because Jr. knows that Dad is the smartest (and he doesn’t want to get slapped).

When I read this story last night I though “I am not surprised.” The lawyers wanted to get it all out as soon as possible. As usual Trump opted to disregard the advice he was getting and go with a flimsy lie.

Tight tight ship Kelly is running. The WaPo leaks came before General Kelly took over as CoS. They have all stopped now.
The Post article, based on interviews with 450 people working at the WH, or with direct knowledge of the President’s actions, confirm that the leaks have completely dried up.
In related news, close confidents of Melania say that she is going to try to keep him so busy at night that he won’t have the energy to tweet in the early hours. The sources would not say what activities she has in mind, nor can we imagine.
