Discussion: WaPo: Mueller Punted On Obstruction Due To Ambiguity Of Trump's Intent

This is not the Mueller report. It’s the AG’s whitewash. Why don’t Chuck and Nancy call a presser at 0900 and get ahead of Barr?

The WaPo article makes almost no mention of the collusion issue. It follows WH spin suggesting that obstruction is the only issue that matters. The media is being played once again.

…Ambiguity Of Trump’s Intent

Translation: We all know what he said and did but Mueller really thinks he’s too stupid to know what he was doing or saying so, maybe he really didn’t mean any of it. I’m starting to think that, no matter what the report says, no matter what’s revealed today, it won’t change anything. His supporters won’t budge.

Goes without saying…almost.

The media doesn’t get played. The media plays along.

NYT is even worse. My hope for Post tho is since they’ve been so much better over the last 2 years on this, and since Bezos is so rich and has his divorce settled, Post will let Trump win the first 15 minutes post press conference and then go to town bury them in paper cuts and puppy bites.

Part of me gets the whole “Ambiguity Of Trump’s Intent” thing. He’s just so shockingly stupid it defies logic. But our prisons are full of stupid people who did stupid things. Not sure Trump should get a break just for being a moron.

So far one of the only things I can agree with in the analysis of ‘what we know so far’, is that DJTJr. and tRump himself are both blissfully ignorant, and therefore couldn’t possibly collude since they were getting played by the smarter Russian intelligence operatives. This ‘getting played’ does bring up the bigger question however:

How the hell does anyone in the tRump circle still have a security clearance?

I just don’t really understand this “Intent” thing. I mean, if I robbed a bank to feed starving infants, what does intent have to do with it ? It’s still a crime.

ETA: IOW, what is the “legal” way to Obstruct Justice ?

His base supporters are now so invested in him that they can’t budge. In their minds; admitting that he is guilty is saying that Hillary Clinton should be queened the Emperor of the Universe, and that minorities are smarter and more worthy than they are.
Support has nothing to do with evidence of wrongdoing. It has everything to do with wounded egos and the perception that if it weren’t for all of this political correctness, ignorant white people would be in charge. No people of color would have a say, the factory job would involve not complicated work, and there would be no such thing as a woman saying “no.”
Supporters in Congress are invested in maintaining their power, and have enough of a conscience left that they can’t even entertain the idea that he is as corrupt as he seems. They simply can’t. The price is too high–to their power, to their “cause”, and to their ability to face themselves.
Mueller may well have been unable to establish intent to the point that he could overcome the DOJ’s policy of not indicting a sitting POTUS. We’ll never know until we get the full report.

So according to this article Mueller threw up his hands and refused to do the job he was charged with doing because it was all just too ambiguous. Aside from the fact that that doesn’t sound like the Mueller who has been consistently portrayed in the media, if it was really all so ambiguous that implies he should have decided not to indict. Wasn’t that the same reasoning used with conspiracy? Unless there is a knock-down case you don’t indict. And if Trump’s intent was so ambiguous (really??) then that means there is no knock-down case. And Mueller would have reached that decision definitively.

Yes I know. I think the WaPo has been far more accurate and reliable in its coverage than the NYT. That’s why it is especially distressing to see it here as—apparently—passing on WH spin. But I hope that your hope is realized.

The Mueller report will be only lightly redacted and show why the ambiguity of President Donald Trump’s intent and actions pushed Special Counsel Robert Mueller to punt the decision on whether or not he obstructed justice.

Not like intent isn’t clear based on how his report is being handled.

Speaking of which …The dog stepped on the remote and it flipped over to Hannity
HOLY
FUCK
These people are deranged.
The topic du jour was: Hillary was the real obstructor of justice. Why isn’t she being investigated ???
2 years later and boogymen are still in short supply. If Hillary passed away they wouldn’t let them bury her until the got to the bottom of their investigations

Trumps intent for everything he does is to do it for his benifit.

Ambiguous? Maybe if you’re deaf and blind.

There would be less ambiguity if Mueller and team had questioned thr president in person. Not doing so was unwise.

Why are you all falling for this “lightly redacted” crap? Says who? A DOJ spokesperson/Barr lackey? When it turns out that extensive incriminating information is clearly heavily redacted, the narrative will already be fixed…“we didn’t see much, and as we all know, the report was only “lightly redacted,” so clearly there was not much to see.”

Fuck.
