Ruh Roh… Didn’t Josh mention that retroactive filings like this happen when an individual is cooperating with the FBI? If they flipped Manafort, it could be very, very bad for Trump. Perhaps this is the piece that was being floated by Hannity that “collusion” isn’t illegal?
When did he file it? Unless it was very recently it is old news that has been proven untrue. If he just filed it is pretty clear he is singing like a bird.
… retroactively filed an 87-page document to the Department of Justice disclosing that their firm received $17.1 million between 2012 and 2014 to lobby for Ukraine’s Party of Regions.
Sounds like somebody flipped. Watch the twitter tonight. Will Manafort be “never my friend, someone who is an awful person, never had my trust, bad, very bad man …”
drip, drip, drip
I remember that Time cover. April 4, 2014. That Gerry Connolly is still a winner. Never stopped winning. Too much winning.
Manafort is the prototypical, amoral, non-ideological DC inside player who is for sale at the highest possible price to whomever can and will write checks that cash. Ergo, any association that he had with Trump was strictly for business (however likely dirty it was), not for love. He is certainly not going to take a bullet for Trump, Kushner, Ivanka or the Dolts. Staying in business is easier if he flips on them.
How does the Ukraine party have $17 million dollars to throw around or away on these guys?
Well the pro Russian ones have some backers from next door.
It’s a Pro-Russia party. Next question?
Manafort is seen here, licking his lips, as he “inspects” the dressing room of one of Chiselin’ Trump’s teen beauty pageants:
Closing the barn door after the barn’s burned down (shamelessly, to mix my metaphors) .
Yep. I was gonna go with an hour late and $20 million short…We’ll see.
I hope there was a check attached to that 87-page document. A nice 15% off the amount earned and accrued interest penalty.
I was thinking exactly the same thing. Of course, I want some guys to flip so they can get Trump. But if Manafort, Page, and Flynn all flip? Come on. We also need some of these criminals to go to jail.
I remember that. They encourage you to get all this kind of thing cleaned up.
He’ll barely remember the name, just one of those people who come and go, Trump can’t be expected to remember everybody who hangs around, wouldn’t know him to see him, etc. etc. It’s funny with Trump, the more scandal-ridden a person is, the more he or she (OK he) seems to fade from Trump’s awareness like the Cheshire cat. Like Stringer Bell, who doesn’t know anybody named Barksdale:
Every time I see a Republican or some talking head on Fox News say “After all this time there’s no proof of collusion, there’s nothing there, it’s time to shut down this wasteful witch hunt.” I wish some one would bring up Manafort. He was with Trump’s campaign for FIVE months and there are stories that he played a part even after he “resigned”. He does seem to be the forgotten man of the campaign.
My expectations at this point are so low that my 90-year old Mom won’t trip on them. This is all theater, so I’m back to focusing on staying alive until she dies.
