Discussion: WaPo: Flynn Denied To FBI That He Discussed Sanctions With Russia

I, too, wonder what the hell he was thinking.

Flynn’s gone now. Trump’s explanation is interesting – ostensibly he didn’t like how Flynn failed to inform Pence. Pence as out there with Spicer and Priebus denying the nature of the call. Trump – who obviously never watches news clips of his own administration – somehow misses how ill informed everybody is but once the nature if the contact is leaked, Trump is offended on Pence’s behalf and forces Flynn to resign. The only way this begins to make sense is if Trump was never in the loop to begin with.

Without that it is a lame CYA on Trump’s part – he’s blurring two things. - it’s part of Flynn’s job to talk with foreign officials – it was by no means part of his job to discuss sanctions thereby undercutting the sitting President of the United States. So we have Trump claiming he didn’t tell Flynn what to do but if Flynn hadn’t done it he would have told him to do it. So what part of it – contacting the Rusdians or talking about sanctions with them?

You may be comfortable with the equivalent of Baghdad Bob in the Oval Office (a fine tuned machine) but most people are going to catch on.

Perjury can be anywhere you make a statement or sign a document under penalty of perjury; lying to the FBI is its own crime. Obstruction has nothing to do with it.

So much crazy!
