Wonder how many of those landlords are going to take advantage of this loophole to get out of what is for them onerous leases…
But it’s all poor and brown folk, likely Democrats, so nobody will care.
Ooooh, Beavis and Butthead Trump are already eyeing those emptying buildings for development.
The President has been threatening shutting down the government for … what… six months or so? And the damn top folks in the agencies don’t start learning (omg from experienced fed. workers in their agencies - oohhh can’t do that … "deep state…) to figure out what the impacts might be, and can’t look for the most serious/vulnerable gaps.
This is what having no fucking idea what policy means, and no concern for govt accept trying to grift off of it look like. Despicable.
The tRump Criminal Family Enterprise is based on one very simple principle:
That, and of course the rule of law doesn’t apply to them like it does everyone else.
Time to tune out…Rainy days and Mondays always get me down.
Damn Trump. Damn Trump’s administration. Damn Congressional Republicans. And damn – actually double-god-damn – every damned voter who voted for any damn Republican.
If you ever lived in the South you would know that most are White and not Democrats. That is the biggest beneficiaries of aid from the Government other than agriculture subsidies, like Obamacare, goes to White people with a high school diploma or less living disproportionally in the South or as the media calls them the base of the Republican party. The difference is almost all agriculture subsidies and government aid are for Whites as opposed to most of other than agricultural subsidies and aid being for Whites.
That said and for that reason, most landlords who can will grant Trump some time before evicting HUD tenants.
I think the front lines of the national security and humanitarian crises may be closer to home than Sarah is letting on.
“I got sloppy and fucked up, you fix it” is just standard Trumpian operating procedure. Same shit, different day.
Federal employees working without pay, food-stamp recipients starving, those with subsidized rent getting evicted… seems like Santa Claus arrived a little late for republicans, but boy, whata swell gifts he brought…
“Many agency officials,” the Post reported, “didn’t realize” that a HUD program covering thousands of tenants expired on Jan. 1.
It’s not a bug; it’s a feature.
The Department of Housing and Urban Development sent letters to hundreds of landlords in a “last-minute” effort to prevent evictions
This is your deep-state at work. If it was up to Trump or Ben Carson, those letters would not have been sent. But Trump is a bit busy now, and Carson if awake at all, is probably helping his wife loot the the department.
The part of me that wants to snark about Trump falls suddenly silent when I think about some elderly person living in a modest home having to leave and find something else in the middle of the goddamn winter because these people are cruelly incompetent. Life doesn’t get easier for the seniors, actually. Most rich societies and a lot of less-rich ones try to help them. And the disabled. And single parents. People should have shelter and food and medical care. Shaking my damn head.
A Confederacy of Dunces. I always questioned the intelligence of some managers where I worked. But these people are stupendously stupid. The Peter Principle, or should it be renamed The Trump Principle? These elites have probably never paid a bill, employees do it for them.
Take heart that that demographic literally voted for this result.
It’s a good thing when we stop protecting people from the consequences of their decisions.
If any of these poor people had basic legal assistance they could likely stay evictions until well after the shutdown is over.
Hopefully he will not be visiting the border In So Cal. Too scary for him to be only a few hundred miles from OC.
It could be intentional nastiness (how crazy is it that that’s honestly one of the possibilities with this administration?!?), or it could just be one of those “holy f$%&ing s#*%!” moments of incompetence.
Here’s some speculation – someone (or someone’s plural) who were very well aware of the applicable HUD programs retired or quit over the last two years, and they were not replaced because “mumble mumble small government rightsizing personal responsibility word-salad”. The gears in a department like HUD haven’t been oiled in two years; can’t say I’m shocked that we’re seeing malfunctions!
I don’t know if you read the back forth between me and another user who’ll stay unidentified but who thought that because those affected by the shutdown weren’t rushing to D.C. to protest and make a fuss as happens in Europe deserved the consequences they were enduring. I said it sounded trumplike. User said “so be it.” I failed at any coherent response after that.
I would bet on your bit of speculation being pretty close to reality.
