Discussion for article #238221

Word salad. But that is probably all you can get from them.

Laurel Patrick, the press secretary for the governor . . .

. . .is full of bullshit, as is the Governor! What they and their Republican sycophants want is to stifle public access to what they are doing and have planned for the future. This alone should disqualify Scott Walker from holding any office of public trust, much less the Presidency.

Due deliberation: “Should we or shouldn’t we remove the ALEC letterhead from this draft bill?”

“This allows for robust debate with state agencies and public employees over the merit of policies and proposed initiatives as they are being formed, while ensuring materials related to final proposals, as well as information related to external stakeholders seeking to influence public policy, would remain fully transparent.” – Laurel Patrick Sir Humphrey Appleby

Boy, didn’t see that coming…–eye roll–

The Enbridge link is the bigger story in all this.

Another way to translate what Patrick said:

This is what Koch money will buy you.

I hope Walker gets the nomination, because he is too amateur to stand up to the scrutiny given a national candidate.

Have to just love the doublespeak. There for open government but at the same time want to dismember the most important legislation to keep government open.

Government doesn’t work. We will prove it by hiding our actions while we dismantle it from the inside.

“Our intent with these changes was to encourage a deliberative process with state agencies in developing policy and legislation. This allows for robust debate with state agencies and public employees over the merit of policies and proposed initiatives as they are being formed, while ensuring materials related to final proposals, as well as information related to external stakeholders seeking to influence public policy, would remain fully transparent.”

“The power of holding two contradictory beliefs in one’s mind simultaneously, and accepting both of them… To tell deliberate lies while genuinely believing in them, to forget any fact that has become inconvenient, and then, when it becomes necessary again, to draw it back from oblivion for just as long as it is needed, to deny the existence of objective reality and all the while to take account of the reality which one denies – all this is indispensably necessary. Even in using the word doublethink it is necessary to exercise doublethink. For by using the word one admits that one is tampering with reality; by a fresh act of doublethink one erases this knowledge; and so on indefinitely, with the lie always one leap ahead of the truth.”

what slime!! Walker is so slimy, so scummy, you’d think that Wisconsin voters wouldn’t have gotten suckered by this guy! Oh yeah, I forgot: they voted for Tailgunner Joe McCarthy, the godfather for Tailgunner Ted Cruz!

“Our focus remains on ensuring open and accountable government and we
encourage public debate and discussion of any potential future changes
to the state’s open records law,” Patrick, the governor’s spokeswoman,
said in the email. “Also, it’s opposite day, so make of that what you will,” she added.

LOL. They’ll get rid of a lot but never “opposite day”

The Kochtopus transformation of America from a democracy into a neofeudal warlord regime is occurring one minor change to state law at a time made, unnoticed, in the dark. And for every one that, like this one, gets noticed and shrivels when exposed to sunlight, a dozen more embed themselves into the fabric of our nation unnoticed.

Killing a single malignant cell isn’t a victory over cancer, folks.

Not when states like WI, MI, and OH are controlled by republicans.

Sorry, this passive “the Legislature came to us and we worked with them” line sounds like bullshit to me.

Whew…there’s a big chomping mouthful of pessimism haha

While I agree to some extent, just remember: there’s always the guillotines.
