I stopped reading when I got to the part about De Blasio being a possible candidate in 2020. With that silliness, how can I believe anything in the story?
When Rick Perry was the governor of Texas he tried to arrange a health insurance program with Mexico because they came to the state to work in many industries particularly those that were supportive of him like home builders and it was less expensive than the emergency room.
The LaGuardia era health clinic a few blocks away from me in Queens was built because there was a sizable number of Italian immigrants some of whom were undocumented; Wops? There was even a tuberculosis ward in it, Tubercular Wops?
California has already led the way on this.
California is the fifth largest economy in the world — bigger than moat countries that have national health care systems. There’s a lot the state can do on its own if Trump doesn’t want to president of the whole United States.
That’s probably especially true if other blue states join the effort. It may well be there will be blue states in which people have health care and red states in which people will simply go without health care. Needless to say, that is only going to accelerate the economic disparity between states and start leading to the exodus of citizens from states that treat their citizens like cattle.
