So, who’s he planning on going to war with first?
So, is this a portend of things to come? Does this make Trump and his supporters happy?
I’m sure it does. Now the US can withdraw as well; not that the US has ever abided by its rulings against us. “He did it, so why can’t we?” will be the prevailing logic.
This will make his administration the “Most Efficient Ever” by cutting down on the staff time needed to read all those angry (and “Very unfair.”) letters from the ICC when Drumpf institutes his terrific new torture regimens.
It would be nice if some intrepid reporter asked trump for his thoughts on this but I won’t hold my breath waiting
So is this the big FU to the world community? The twelve-year-old come back of 'I do what I want"???
Very much so. They detest the handoff of any national power to any multinational bodies, no matter what we get back in return. Think of the preference of the supporters as libertarianism for nations.
“Vladimir Putin Withdraws Russia From International Criminal Court”
Presumably, he has a whole bunch of war crimes that he wants to commit.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Trump suggests we follow suit given that committing war crimes appears to be a cornerstone of his foreign policy.
edit: ah - we’re not members anyway - Bush II pulled us out.
The word 'lawless" leaps to mind.
Along with the question, if authorities are lawless, do they really have authority or is it just abusive power?
Or, if I may paraphrase, “If President Putin does it, it ISN’T illegal.”
Ain’t that America, where pernicious precedents enable pernicious Presidents all over the world.
Only slightly OT, but is there a place in our democratic future for “correction elections?”
