“the ad may have been racially motivated.”

Wow. The milquetoast “may”?

First of all, call it like it is and stop pussyfooting for fuck’s sake. “Thug” is just about the lowest frequency dogwhistle in the Teatroll lexicon at this point, bordering on not even being a dogwhistle anymore.

Second, the guy’s statement wasn’t even caveated in any way. He literally said it was an ad to scare white people with black people. No “may.” No conditional language or modifiers whatsoever. So why the fuck did you feel it necessary to add one?

Going full Willie Horton already?

Vitter is clearly desperate.

Hopefully it backfires – all the race baiting ads (and Obama baiting ads) might serve to drive up African-American turnout for Edwards. And even in Louisiana, it may offend some whites with the blatant racism.

And you can see in this screen capture the scariest “THUG” of them all:

“5,500 dangerous thugs, drug dealers back into our neighborhoods.”

You guys had really, really awful neighborhoods.

Vitter is a such slime ball. He reminds me of True Detective Season #1 with his propensity to frequent prostitutes and pay hundreds of thousands to dodgy private detectives. I certainly wouldn’t let him baby sit.

The Dem in this race needs to fight back by drawing a direct line from the racist Willie Horton type ads to this one. No pussy-footing around. Call it for what it is outright.

Edit: OOops, I see Sniffit already expressed my sentiments, almost exactly too.

Is this guy any kin to Edwin Edwards? If so, Vitter better watch his ass.

What an engrossing TV series though 2 seasons.
Season #2 was a little slow to get rolling (first 3 episodes or so)-- but rock&rolled after that.
Highly recommend!

This is exactly the type of shit that’s going on in the KY statewide races and it’s been going on since 2007. GOP ads for everything from Governor to Auditor to even Agriculture Commissioner are all based on tying the candidate to Obama no matter how impossibly stupid and non-existent the connection might be. They’re literally running an ad in which they accuse the governor’s son, who is running for Attorney General, of running on Obama’s famous last name. All of these races, despite a well of mostly overqualified, extremely well-funded Democrats running against a cabal of unfit morons, are dangerously tight. Sadly, if history is any indicator, in both Louisiana and Kentucky, these ads will be wildly successful.

releasing “dangerous thugs” like Denny Hastert would be bad.

A guy with a history of paying hookers to dress him up in a diaper and little legislative accomplishments from his time in Congress should be slapped down, repeatedly.

Obviously Edwards has Vitter shitting his diaper over this race.

Why pussy foot around like that? Just slap the Willie Horton thing up there and be done with it.

Surely the Napoleonic Code must have something to say about this…

…hmmm…"…and specified that government jobs should go to the most qualified…"

I was right.
