Yes, he is. But, hopefully all the demonstrations, protests, and rulings will send the message that the Minority So-Called-President does not represent the majority of the country. We cannot stand for this. It will not stand.
I think Steve Bannon and President Trump want to commit insane circus acts of hate as chum for their alt-right christian extremist base. However, they also want the judiciary and their opponents to push back hard and fast so that they can demonize Democrats and stoke their supporters sense of victimization and christian martyrdom.
The action and the reaction are both political wins for the christian extremists and alt-right fundamentalists.
I think you like to set things up in a framework that makes it seem that itâs impossible for us to have an affect or indeed to do anything.
I will tell you what the demonstrations and protests are good for if not good for pushing back at Peepee - it shows the rest of the world that the majority of us arenât having this shit.
And we arenât and we arenât going to and weâll never stop pushing back.
This is our country - the peoplesâ, and the people are royally pissed off.
Just to add to this conversationâŚ.I just watched a bit of a special about a poor town in Kentucky that voted Trump. To see these people talk about why they voted Trump, how they hope âheâs gonna bring them some change, some jobsâ, etc., and juxtapose them against this young man from Yemen who got his ass all the way across the world to a community college in Tennessee, and who now is anxious to get back in (on his green card) because he has âwork to doâ, is just so ironic. This self-motivated, hard working kid is being kept out because of a bunch of lazy ass rubes who voted for the asshole. GawdâŚ.it is just so f*cked up.
Itâs also possible that the school(s) that admitted those foreign students may have happened to offer them some form of scholarship or other as well. Availability of financial assistance is always a big factor when making the final decision which school you go, whether you are a domestic or a foreign student. But for many foreign students from around average family backgrounds it tends to be even bigger â too often they canât get needed USD with the money in their local currency.
pretty sure that Clarksville (in the North) has a sizable Muslim population.
And Bowling Green, site of the massacre, has thousands of Bosnians, most of whom are Muslim, presumably.
If you ever had some small feeling that Romney is not a completely horrible personâthat somewhere inside lurks a tiny 47% which is humanâyou can forget about it.
This is good âŚ
I know it sounds that way. But I am way more optimistic. We simply have to make sure the circus acts of hate themselves are understood for what they are â hateful unhinged and deranged behaviors from an unbalanced sexual predator. The reaction is predictable but no one can manage it.
But of course they have. Havenât you heard? Theyâre going to be looking at their phone contacts and their browser history. Thereâs no possible way that terrorists can overcome that extreme vetting, right?
But, I thought he preferred âyellow showersâ instead.
Bunga BungaâŚ
Thatâs right. How stupid of me. But wait, Trump watches movies, right? Didnt he watch Zero Dark Thirty? I guess when you have never lived in the Middle East (as neither Trump, Bannon, Gaffney, Gorka, or any of these assholes have never done) you could overlook the fact that Internet Cafes abound in that region of the world.
Au contraire, mon ami- international students of middle eastern and Asian persuasion are big business for universities, as my deep South U. will attest. Give me your smart, monied youth and I will give you an education. I cannot speak to an increase in racial/ethnic slurs against these groups of âotherâ students, but I think the uniâs strive to create a haven in academe where there is little tolerance for intolerance.
Now that is true optimism.
Even knowing that the POTUS is hating on them and actively attempting to ban them from the US, these immigrants still want in and still have high hopes of bettering themselves.
It makes me wonder just how awful things are where they are coming from or is America really just that much of an allure to those far away from it?
Is our grass that much greener or does the saying just stand true?
Trump is better than Assad, for now, at leastâŚ
Exactly, heâs just off and running. Wait until he warms up and finds all the cracks that he can exploit to piss of his rivals and hurt too many in the process.
Itâs an out of the frying pan and into the fire thing.
Assad is the extreme example but not all seven countries have an Assad.
I donât blame anyone of the immigrants for wanting to come, up until the Dictator Trump era that is.
