Sigma Alpha Epsilon. There was a scandal not long back when a video surfaced of a busload from that chapter singing a “traditional” song, about how exactly they’d make sure “there’d never be a n***r in the S.A.E.”. Yes it involved lynching.
They did this on a bus taking members and high school prospects and their dates to a formal. A couple of them apparently didn’t think it was cool. A couple of members were expelled and the chapter disbanded and the house closed.
For a long time Oklahoma hosted the largest concentration of organized white supremacy in the nation (e.g. Elohim City, the Christian Identity movement, which some may remember from the Timothy McVeigh connections). I don’t know if that’s still true. That scene is a far cry from Norman culturally though. Much more likely is that this was done by students or people who live there.
It’s apparently hard to paint a Star of David when you’re holding the spray-can in one hand and you can only count on the other.
