Can these fundamentalist yahoos get any more daft? (Donât answer.)
And since when did high school become âThe Lordâs timeâ?
(Sighs) I live very near to this location. I can attest there are many folks who canât/wonât critical think.
So canât they just cut to the chase and enroll their precious little spawn in Liberty University Prep?
LOL! Ahhh ⌠but Liberty costs bucks.
Take thee to the fainting couch⌠Closed down the entire school district?? Get a grip, folks!
Itâs generally better to keep ALL religion out of school, unless the subject is along the lines of âcomparative religionâ. Using that particular âStatement of Faithâ was a knucklehead move, and asking for trouble.
I think sheâs saying that thereâs a âCâ for Christ in eduCation, but there is no âMâ for Muhammad.
Or something like that.
Then why do they pronounce it eduMaCation? LOL
I think youâre right. When in doubtâmaybe she didnât doubt her lessonâdonât. I am pretty certain there are many other statements in the same language that are just as aesthetically pleasing for calligraphy. That said, many of these parents got freaked out over nothing (IMO).
Creeping Sharia, thatâs why!!!
I swear. For people that supposedly believe in (and according to them are under the protection of) an all-knowing, all-seeing, omnipotent overlord, Christians sure are afraid of anything and everything that doesnât agree 100% with their twisted world view. Theyâre afraid of everything. Why?
Land of the brave and home of the free my a$$.
This has become a nation of cowardly bedwetters.
Conservatives - You Built That!
To answer one great manâs astoundingly profound question: âYes, our children is learning.â
I am curious - who translated that text for them?
Good question. Iâll be right back.
Trumpâs white male nationalism Republican Party is based on ignorance and apparently they are afraid their
children are becoming more educated and informed than themselves.
Take a poll - Iâll bet my next pay check the complaining parents canât find Syria or Montana on a map.
Ignorance is bliss.
Knowledge is power!
Looks like Sharia law is just fine - as long as it is the right wing nut Christian version!
Seriously, these people need a hobby, maybe they can go pick up supplies this Sunday
Plenty of stupidity to go around here.
As an atheist who believes devoutly (ha ha) in non-secular public education, it was incredibly shortsighted by the teacher to assign this particular bit of text for the students to learn calligraphy. What in hell did she expect was going to be the reaction of the community? The notion that there wasnât a single other example of text that could have served perfectly well for a freaking calligraphy project is mind-boggling. She poked the fucking hornetâs nest, and if she didnât realize it was a hornetâs nest to begin with, sheâs a clueless dope.
Having said that, the parents who are so outraged over their precious little snowflake being exposed to another religion that it results in the closing of the school are brain-dead idiots.
It was a questionable passage to refer to on a lesson about calligraphy.
However, would those same parents have been up in arms if the lesson would have been copying an Old Testament passage in Hebrew? Methinks not!
The source I used (http://www.nbc29.com/story/30780272/controversial-assignment-reactions-prompt-augusta-co-schools-to-close) doesnât specify. They just say âWhen parents found out âŚâ which could mean anything from they discovered it on their own or they relied on school officials. Either way, there doesnât seem to be any contention the translation is incorrect.
