Discussion: Virginia GOP Delegate Files Suit To Get Out Of Voting For Trump At Convention

I’m all for chaos and all that but this is just stupid. No one forced this person to be a delegate. Shut up and do your job. Or resign.

dropped 5.4% today…the world can’t afford Donald Trump President…

Interesting! I will look forward to this ruling, because it may be the way to bypass Donald “the draft dodging coward” Trump.

there is really a criminal law on the books in Virginia preventing a delegate from changing their mind in what is essentially a frat house election?

Correll is being represented by a major D.C. law firm, BakerHostetler.

On August 25, 2014, House Republicans hired BakerHostetler’s David Rivkin to provide legal representation to sue President Obama over the Affordable Care Act.

How about just voting for Hillary?

Slightly but not completely OT… Henry Paulson endorses Hillary.

This is why Democracy sucks.

We have to let the stupid people participate, too, and they have incredibly stupid ideas like this.

As a Representative, they are NOT there to act on their own opinion, they are there to act on their Electorate’s opinion.

Another. You would think these would get a LOT more press than they have been getting. Guess it isn’t as interesting as the thread count on the sheets at TURDberry Golf Resort.

Wonder if Bush the elder will ever say anything. And where the hell was the sainted Nancy Reagan when this whole thing started? She could have diffused some of this early on.

Frankly, yes, I can blame him. He volunteered to take part in this shitshow, so he should either follow the rules or get the hell out.

Correll alleges in the lawsuit that state law which binds him to vote
for Trump on the first ballot at the convention violates his
constitutional right to free speech.

It’s hard to believe that even right wing lawyers can be craven enough to try to push this argument. Again - you volunteer, you play by the rules. His free speech has no more been violated than a TV game show contestant who isn’t allowed to yammer non-stop during taping.

The ruling should be to bounce this right out of court. If somebody doesn’t want to be a delegate, then don’t be…nobody is holding a gun to their head or threatening them with financial penalties or jail time if they resign.

What he is asking for is for the courts to allow him to break the law so he can sleep at night, when the recourse is already completely within his own power…resign as a delegate.

Yeah…I have to say, that one coming out public surprised me. I am certainly no fan of Paulson’s, but wow…the last republican Treasury secretary not only against Trump…but voting FOR Clinton??

Or… somebody who’s just found a way to enjoy a little " celebrity" …

maybe try and get some " viral" action —

You’d be amazed what some will do for a limelight shot —

Wow, a lot of Republicans think Donald is unfit to be President.

Must be something to it.

Does this petition imply “Trumpism” is dead in Virginia?
