What happens if someone signs a pledge but they are not republicans? What is the penalty?

So after they ā€œpledgeā€, whatā€™s the penalty if they vote dem in the general?

You know, beside your side getting shellacked?

Iā€™ve voted as a Republican in IL primaries, trying to affect the outcome to the Dems advantage. (Hasnā€™t worked yet, btw.) GOPers do the same here in Chicago. Itā€™s part of the game. The pledge part is silly. That would be just part of the game too. Typical GOP empty grand gesture.

Repugs are getting truly desperate and that is just beginning. It will only get worse.

I would think they could exclude only so many people.

Sheā€™s from Florida. You suggesting a VA GOP Chair can do something about her? Itā€™ll be up to the next president to fire her as chair of the DNC, and itā€™ll be part of the clean sweep of the oldies from this administration.

Wisconsin has a long tradition of crossing over to sandbag the other partyā€™s primary and Iā€™d say it works about 50/50 +/- 5.

I am independentā€¦neither a Republican nor a Democrat and I will vote sometimes for a person least likely to win in order to stop some of the silly candidates. I will not sign a pledge, now or ever.

Just another example of the GOPā€™s arrogance. They think their ideas and their party supersedes everyone elseā€™s rights. Witness their reaction to Obamaā€™s election, their single-minded devotion to destroying the ACA, their treasonous letter to Iran, the invitation of Netanyahu to speak to Congress. This is relatively small potatoes, but they just donā€™t value your opinion if youā€™re not in lockstep with their ideas.

Why stop at pledging that Iā€™m a Republican? Why not pledge that Iā€™m also white and a 'Murcan?

Iā€™ll bet this tool worships at Landover Baptist where the unsaved are unwelcome!

The one thing scarier to Reps than a Dem winning . . . . . is a REP winning? Pathetic. You built that shit salad. Eat up.

PLEDGE my butt.

Elected people take the PLEDGE, not the voters.

The Republican Party has become anal-retentives Paranoia is the backbone of their existence. Itā€™s no longer representative of the will of the people, itā€™s a party-line political machine that represents the WILL of lobbists and big business. FREEDOM of choice on ANY level is NOT permitted. Culture of FASICST pledges.

Look at their front runner Donald Trump, who is a FASCIST thru and thru.

Republicans are not FREE, their party is UN-AMERICAN.

Hereā€™s my salute to their kind of American way.and a salute to Donald Trumpā€¦

Just to make really, really sure, they should insist that every primary voter ā€œpinky swearā€ that he or she is a Republican.

How old are these people, about 9?

Pledges are for suckers. There is no constitutional requirement for oaths or pledges.

Courageous action instead, please.
