Discussion: Virginia GOP Calls For Boycott Of Restaurant That Turned Away Sanders

Dining in a place where I don’t have to worry about overhearing some rude, racist GOP troll defending Trump’s policy of kidnapping young children? Sounds like a selling point to me! More boycotts, please!

Meh. If they didn’t want to be looked down on they wouldn’t keep reaching for a lower low.

“there has to be some form of punishment”

In 2018. Or 2020.

Any time we refuse to appease them on anything their feelings are hurt. They know they are wrong but want it anyway, hence their fear that we are looking down on them. When I was a kid, we had to follow my father’s every whim but the kicker was we had to act like we liked it or his feelings were hurt, he sulked for days, and ultimately made your life miserable. Fighting it only made everyone unhappy and ultimately escaping home was the answer.
So, how do we remove ourselves from a countrywide abusive situation? It’s hard for me. Recently I reacted to something, kept it to myself out of deference to the location, got drawn into a facebook discussion and subsequently called out for hurting someone’s feelings. Not for being in the wrong though. Just hurting the feelings of someone who I still believe was in the wrong. But I feel bad. Our good manners and socialization are being used as weapons against us. I don’t want to lose that civility but don’t want to let it be used as a way to let them do terrible things either. My mom looked the other way and took it to keep the peace in our household. I worry about us doing so to keep the peace in our country. It made her miserable and I think there’s a lesson there as well.

That’s alright, GOOPers can just go eat \ abuse their dining privileges at the White House mess, like other Trumpoid grifters (looking at you, S. Pruitt).

Yes, all Republicans should follow the VA GOP party line. That will show everyone they’re not fascists!

I think the DNC and the Virginia Democratic Party would be remiss if they didn’t organize trips to the Red Hen and encourage all their members to eat there regularly.

Thanks. I know. I’m working on it.

I feel like the left can easily go back to our normal civil way of being once we come out of this nightmare. The right wingers have never been civil and never will be, that’s their normal way of being.

They’ve been propagandized by their media manipulators to react to these perceived insults by coming back to the manipulators to be soothed. So it’s become wildly exaggerated. In the short term, the question is whether the consequences of offending them by saying “that policy is evil” are worse than the consequences of saying nothing. Under Trump, it’s usually the latter—it’s important to oppose the policy and their feelings are less important. First we can save the republic and then we can find some way to reconcile with people whose blind stupidity and fear nearly wrecked the republic. Priorities, just like every day in life.

Anytime someone uses the term “politically correct” substitute these words with their synonym: “treating people with respect.” The true intent of the speaker becomes clear. As in “Maybe I’m not treating people with respect, but…”

I thank you,

And the employees of the restaurant thank you, I’m sure.

They’ll end up having more customers than they can deal with.

I predict they’ll have to expand or move to a bigger building to compensate.

Sarah Slanders has bigger fish to fry, as her boss’s disapproval ratings are skyrocketing. Up from 5% to 14%. They’re bleeding supporters, 4 months until the election
