A pedophile is attracted to prepubescent minors. This would be an example of ephebophilia, an attraction to teen adolescents. What he did was sleazy and immoral, even perhaps predatory, but he’s not exactly Jerry Sandusky.

Pedophile? Seventeen is age of consent in many states, including here in Texas. Are you saying he’s a ped in Virginia but not elsewhere? Or is it pedophilia even if you don’t break the law?
And JB is right. There’s a huge difference between being attracted to prepubescent kids and teenagers approaching adulthood. Heck, if he had waited a year he could have videotaped them doing it and sold it online. Honestly, as long as she’s cool with it, I don’t see how he did anything wrong. Well, except for outraging people who want to live in denial about teenagers having sex, of course.

Yeah… The resultant healthy baby does kinda show that the biology here is working the way it was “intended”.
The primary purpose of sexual attraction (in as much as it has one for genetic or biological reasons) is to convince people to try to have sex with the people most likely to give healthy offspring as a result of that sex.
The relationship was clearly expoitative and wrong (she was under age and an employee!) but calling him a peadophile does seem a step too far on this evidence.

Old guys ought not to seduce teenager girls. Teenage girls should be raised with enough sense to say “yuck!” when the attempt is made. That it is typically against the law is not a bad thing.

Former Virginia Del. Joe Morrissey (D) spent weeks playing coy after
his teenage ex-secretary – whom he was accused of having a sexual
relationship with when she was 17 years old – gave birth to a baby boy
in March.
But on Wednesday, Morrissey confirmed that he is the father.
Morrissey told local radio host Jack Gravely that his girlfriend Myrna Pride’s 9-month old baby, Chase, was his son.
March was only 2 months ago.
