how upsetting. a black man, in his own familyâs back yard, holding a cellphone, and two cops piss all over themselves trying to gun him down. Why are they afraid of black men? The reason is obvious, right? for anyone who has ever traveled abroad and realized how fucked-up the Merican psyche is regarding black men, you know why. The officers who fired are taken to the street, where someone says âHey muteâ and the audio cuts out. The video continues without sound for about two minutes as the officers talk.
âBased on the videos alone, I cannot second guess the split-second decisions of our officers and Iâm not going to do that,â Mayor Darrell Steinberg said in a statement.

Ironically, it even causes Black police officers to fear other Blacks irrationally.
I do not, but my uncle, his son, and my cousinâs half-brother are (or were, in my uncleâs case) cops, and every one of them has been extremely critical of past incidents like this. I suspect Brian and Eric would be pretty damned critical of this one, too, after watching the video.

The helicopter officer is giving bad information. âHeâs running toward the frontââthe individual in question is, at that point in the video, clearly moving in a slow, either cautious or unhurried manner. Heâs walking, not running. By saying ârunningâ, the aerial observerâs giving the officers on the ground an impression of a more frenetic, more active and amped up suspect, heightening their tension.

âShow us your hands GUN GUN GUNâ. Note the lack of delay in that bodycamâs audio. These officers ordered the suspect to show them his hands and then did not order him to drop what he was holding. They did not hesitate even half a second between seeing something in his hands in poor lighting (their bodycams indicate their hand-lights were not trained on him, so itâs the yard lighting only) and opening fire. Even if heâd been holding a gun, and not pointing it at them, at that point he should have been directed to disarm, and not simply fired upon at close range.

The decision to immediately mute the audio frames this as immediately suspect, even in the minds of the officers on the scene.
Taken together: the aerial observer has the men on the ground anticipating a combative, possibly panicked suspect whoâs been backed into a corner, not a guy in his own back yard. They donât get good lighting on him, and see an object in his hand. The first officer speaking panics, and he opens fire shouting âGUN GUN GUNâ, which causes the second officer to open fire as well. After the shooting, theyâre both still very jumpy, and almost immediately start realizing âoh shitâ.
