He reached for the Skittles! How many times do we have to tell you, brosef? DON’T REACH FOR THE SKITTLES!!!
Ooooooh…Indiana…'nuff said.
“Police pulled Lisa Mahone over for not wearing a seatbelt.”
LOL. This seems to be a pattern…
With the new open carry mania going around there are literally thousands of white guys walking around with assault riffles. As of yet I have not heard of even one being shot, tased, or even stopped for questioning.
No shit, it really does.
I’d like to know what the law really says about the ability of police to order someone out of a car, when that person is acting lawfully and not suspected of a crime. I know he’s not obligated to give them identification, and I’m not sure why they should be able to order him out of the car when there’s no suspicion of criminal activity.
“When additional officers arrived, they asked Jones to get out of the car because they feared for their safety.”
When additional officers arrived, they continued to deliberately and disingenuously manufacture reasons to escalate to the situation in order to give themselves an excuse for reminding some darky of his place and who’s the boss in Indiana.
FIFY
Depends on the state I think. It happened to me once while riding in a work vehicle, and an attorney told me in Kansas that’s the law.
That’s where you’re wrong. There WAS suspicion of criminal activity. There WASN’T “probable cause.” It’s a distinction that matters. The former without the latter means the pig can’t do anything. The latter is when the pig can search, etc.
When you get this conflict in a white pig’s brain (i.e., “I know this darky is up to something because he’s a darky, and I sooooo want to rough him up and/or arrest him, but damnit I have no probable cause”), he starts making up reasons and doing things to bait the “suspect” to get them upset for being harassed unjustifiably, which helps them end up doing something that the pig can use as an excuse for escalating the confrontation, pulling his gun, calling backup, deliberately playing the intentionally-obtuse game of “I thought he was reaching for his weapon when he went for the ticket I told him to show me” etc. If they WANT to arrest you, they will find a way to manufacture your arrest, with the beating being a complementary service. And in case you were wondering, if you’re black in Hammond, Indiana, I guarantee the white conservative police force wants to arrest you.
Oh, and as for open carry…yeah…that’s just another excuse for white people open-carrying a gun to shoot black people open-carrying a gun. Couple it with “stand your ground” laws and you’ve got open season, not just open carry. Bank on it.
Edit: and just for the record, my interpretation is that these pigs were trying to work up some excuse for searching the car and his person in hopes they’d be able to take him in and give him a felony charge, 5 years and the inability to vote for having a couple grams of weed.
At some point, police are going to need to be taught that the tactics they were trained in to take charge of a situation only serve to escalate issues; thus taking things out of their control. Moreover, that being in control doesn’t mean ordering people around, shouting, and eventually tasing people, as that’s actually the opposite of being in control. And while it’s easier to shout at people and tase them into obedience, it’s counterproductive and only makes things worse.
And sadly, too many parents suffer from this mistake as well, where they equate being in charge with having everyone obey their every order, no matter how wrong they are.
Nope, no profiling going on here, walk on by…
They broke through the car window because they’ve never learned to use the door handle?
I hope rather than just posting this to the site that TPM is also keeping some sort of collated records of this kind of thing. The site has featured two in just the last week (unprovoked use of a taser). My guess is this shit is happening all across the country a couple dozen times a day.
Gosh - why didn’t they just set the car on fire - that would have made him get out!
What part of this was protecting and or serving? Fucking police are working hard to earn that horrible reputation they have built up.
I really really hope they lose a metric tonne of money on this. SRSLY, being a passenger while black is not a tasing offense.
As another poster on another thread posted earlier, when did the Police start being so scared ? I am surprised that they aren’t tasing/shooting/choke-holding their own shadows.
Okay, if they pulled over the driver for not wearing a seatbelt, since when do they need to ID the passenger? We need our papers while riding in a car now? (I know, I know.) Give the girl a ticket for not wearing her belt and move on to the next fund raiser, jeebus.
I think we’ve been using the wrong word for the Tea Party et al. They’re Reactionaries, not Conservative, and we’re back in the 60’s, folks, when it comes to our law enforcement, just ask Mr. Sniffit
This is a perfect example of why our police officers need military grade hardware.
If they had only been able to waste the guy with an RPG instead of all that talking, they could have invoked the Zimmerman defense: The word of the cop vs. the word of the dead guy.
Ubiquitous video will infringe on our privacy, but at least it will protect us from the brutes who work in law enforcement.
