They’re absolutely correct.

If even Fox News gets it, then everyone should get it. I can understand why Huckabee and Cruz don’t, but what’s taking Kentucky so long?

Dear Kim Davis Supporters,
A vegan clerk issuing gun licenses issues permits to people who have handguns for self defense, since self-defense is important to him, but not to hunters for their rifles, because he’s morally opposed to killing animals. Thoughts?

I am not a lawyer. I have never even audited a class on US Constitutional law. But if I was on trial before a judge, and I heard my lawyer say that a Supreme Court decision does not have to be followed because it is not the law of the land, then even I know that it is time to ask the court to get me a new lawyer. This is absolute recklessness. These lawyers know goddamned well about the supremacy of a high court decision.
I also heard these morons and their willfully ignorant client Ms. Davis casting suspicions about the validity of the licenses issued by the clerk’s office without Ms. Davis, when Kentucky law clearly states that they are legal and valid, and there are records of legal licenses being issued in Ms. Davis’s absence in the past. Isn’t it illegal for a lawyer to do that?

This is wonderful. I’m sure Kim has been waiting in the jail cell for Fox News to gin up all sorts of moral indignation at her sentence, whipping the public into a frenzy of outcry.

And it’s just not…happening.

I say she stays in there another few weeks and then quietly resigns her job when everyone starts to forget about her

Yeah, but the press doesn’t seem able to get it – various “reporters” and “columnists” keep writing about the difficult questions faced in trying to “reconcile” their beliefs against “rights” for those people.

I find it amusing that it counts as a news story when something said on Fox News isn’t the most vile, disingenuous or completely incorrect interpretation of something.

“an obligation to uphold other people’s constitutional rights.”

Yup and that is what SCOTUS did. They did not redefine marriage or say same sex marriage was legal. They said that you must provide equal protection as demanded by the 14 th Amendment. That’s all.

There are no exemptions to compliance. A Cop cannot refuse to investigate a domestic dispute because the folks in the dispute are of the same sex. A garbage man cannot refuse to pick up the trash of a home with a man and a women cohabiting in it. Not even if these things offend their religion.

There is no end to this if Davis wins. So she can’t. Who is next…no marriage licenses or drivers licenses for Jews…they don’t accept Jesus as The Savior. For Atheists? There is no end to where this goes…so it must be ended.

There is hardly a peep from the overall “christian” segment of the population due to one fact…“rule of law”. At the end of the day christians do not want others of different faiths and beliefs telling them what laws they will or wont follow because that could really backfire in their faces and on their phony beliefs. Sadly she is represented, not by trained lawyers but by kooks from Liberty law, which isnt a “real” law school. She’s screwed either way…by the law or by her defense team.

She’s really screwed if the FoxBots have thrown her under the bus. Roger has decided that there’s no profit in calling this religious persecution anymore.

I think FOX News is losing its laser-like focus what with Obama in his last months. They’re not sure if they need to be rabidly anti-woman or anti-Socialism yet.

Correct evaluation . . . . . .henceforth these individuals are banned from Fox. Can’t have independent thinkers poisoning their faux outrage.

Veganism isn’t a religion and its proponents aren’t protected by the First. But I get the idea. To keep the analogy parallel consider a Jewish guy in a supermarket. Does the First give him the right to refuse ringing up your pork chops? A Catholic the right to refuse ringing up hamburger on Friday or selling a mop on Sunday?

The First Amendment does not give you the right to impose your religion on anyone. And that is what Davis wants to do, although I really think she’s just an old school bigot. The First lets you worship, gather and SAY what you like …not do or not do what you like or don’t like. The First makes sure no one tells you how to Believe or what to Believe…it does not say you have a right to impose those beliefs on others. That would be antithetical to what the Amendment was for.
