Discussion for article #223125
Those 2 gun-totināāChipotleā boyz from Tejas last week should be first in line for a psychiatric evaluation. So when do we start profiling young white males with self-esteem and anger management issues?
Anyone crazy enough to carry a rifle in public is crazy enough to fire it in public.
If I saw a young man toting a rifle in a public place, Iād hit him in the head with something very hard and ask questions later. Isnāt that standing your ground?
Or, of course, Iād just run without paying my bill or picking up my groceries, or saying, āpardon me!ā As I pushed my way out.
Well said!
I am not usually one to take issue with news photos, but this one in particular bothers me.His father might be a well known individual in his craft. but this photo intrudes on a level of grief which cannot be measured by anyone outside the event.
I take no issue with using a photo to headline the story, but I would have gone to any length needed NOT to use this one, out of simple respect, if nothing else.
I say this with all respect to you and you heartfelt feelings: He was addressing a press conference and criticized gun laws.
I fully agree with him, and I see nothing inappropriate about the picture. It drives home the message of the real cost, could even help very slightly.
The tribune posted this photo of a dead boy (Warning it really is a photo of a murdered boy) last week, and I say itās high time. We need more honest reporting of these evil events, not less.
Yeah, lots of people have sexual fetishes, but they donāt expect you to have to endure them when you eat your lunch.
Or indulge them by dying.
This poor dad, hopefully his grief will make Americans realize, there are mentally ill people all over the world, most of them with no access to a firearm. The problem is not gang violence, it is not violent video games, it is not because of mental illness, it is because access to guns.
Stop and frisk for gun carrying white males, sounds great.
Much is said about these killers being mentally ill. Perhaps we should recognize that a nation that tolerates the daily slaughter by gunfire of its citizens is itself profoundly mentally ill.
So much of this goes to the brainwashing done to the basest base by Rush, FOX, Bleck et al, and to the NRAās maniacal political overreach at the state and national levels, intended for one purpose; to rake in billions in fear-induced profits. The 2nd Amendment is just their tool to accomplish that, the profiteers who really benefit could not care less about our Constitution.
The profane nature of the way they hijacked the entire legal process with campaign contributions and primary retribution blackmail, and the deadly results of that proliferation that was promoted on right wing media, are proof enough that this was hardly an organic event that actually stemmed from protecting our constitutional rights and freedoms.
It may have been framed that way, that is always their last refuge in their gun madness arguments, but to anyone with any sense about them, the profane profits of the gun industry and the right wingās growing desperation to divide our nation into hostile reactionary factions, are clearly the real motivations behind the maniacal politics and policies towards gun ownership that have been promulgated over the past 50 years by a subservient, complicit, pantwetting Congress, and enabled by a revenue-hungry media.
I read one comment in a newspaper that read: āSorry about your kid, but youāre not taking my gunsā.
That is all ye need to know about those who wallow in our gun culture.
How many more have to die, NRA and gun nuts? How many more innocents are needed to water Gungop?
