Discussion: Vice Reporter Arrested Outside Trump Rally In Houston

Arresting and detaining reporters while they wait to find out about their credentials and so forth. Very nice. Not at all reminiscent of an authoritarian regime.

In other news, hope everyone’s having a nice Constitution Day.

Looks to me like Trump is trying the ultimate in fascist tactics–not because this reporter got arrested–but because he is now daring the press that made him who he is to try going after him.

He thinks he’s winning, and that he is now untouchable by the press or anyone else, largely because the press gave him such a free pass. He suckered them in to thinking that they could “always” go against him, and now (very much on the model of his idol, Adolph) he will turn on the press and dare them to try to take him down. What fools the press has been.

The MSM do finally seem to be taking the gloves off. Even The New York Times has started calling a spade a spade.

What’s both revealing and discouraging, however, is that the media’s newfound backbone has not been occasioned by their realization that they have a duty to inform the public, not merely to act as stenographers or as track announcers calling the horserace. No, what’s finally gotten them up in arms is the Trump campaign’s mistreatment of reporters.

As long as it wasn’t about them, they were happy to do a shitty job. Now, not so much.

[The luncheon is hosted by the Remembrance Project, a Houston-based nonprofit advocates for families whose relatives were killed by undocumented immigrants][1].

Might have been nice to include this.

Vice News reported that they requested access to the event earlier this week and was told by the Trump campaign that the status of the request was “pending.” When Thompson asked about the status of the access, a hotel manager asked him to leave and said that he would be arrested if he did not, according to Vice. Then, about two minutes later and without warning, as he was waiting for the Trump campaign to verify access to the event, he was arrested and escorted out.

Naturally that was a lie.

He was speaking at an event sponsored by these ‘nice’ folks.

Having press people arrested at will. Remember this, Trump supporters: Your ass is next, should you not look “just right” and offer the “right answers” when asked to speak up. Germany, Poland, Italy, France, North Korea, China and a few other nations have solid experience with what you’re flirting with. There’s always someone next. But by that time, we won’t be there to have your back when the TT come for your ass … or your child’s. Remember that, Trump supporter.

couple this with Putin’s endorsement, and you’ve got Trump in a nutshell … think skinned, narcissist with delusions of not only grandeur but intelligence. Spooky thing, is the number of Americans who support him.

Remember, Germany was the apex of western civilization in the 1930s.

Vice has that campaign to blame for lying to them or the reporter about access. However that’s on Vice and not the campaign perse (unless there was of course more than one reporter who got played), because when there is that type of lull, then something is up.

Now it would have been funny as hell had dude dressed like he belonged there and snuck into that conference (and yes its possible and yes i’ve done it) and got footage/tape.

Evita would be a better representative musical for Der Drumpf’s campaign than Les Miserables.

I want to start a search for what businesses willingly do business with Trump and anything Trump, including the haughty, lying, snaky Ivanka. Nordstrom, I believe is one company. There are others. I will refuse to do business at or with these companies or support the fucking idiots who stay at Trump hotels. Cut this fucker off at the knees.

Probably Governor Pence’s doing.

I hear he has a religious objection to the word “vice”.

Donald Trump: the self proclaimed “Law and Order” candidate. If this were literature rather than a presidential campaign, then I would think that proclamation had been foreshadowing. Perhaps he meant to self-proclaim that he is the “Police State” candidate?

Well Trumps other BFF Kim Jong-Un executed a vice premier for education for falling asleep during a meeting. So it behooves anyone considering a cabinet post in a Trump administration to think carefully before accepting the position.

The campaign is totally at fault and this is really bad optics (for Trump) that the campaign appears to have gone out of its way to create. I really hope–for the sake of the nation, for the sake of transparency, honesty, etc.–that the press start biting back … HARD.

GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump is scheduled to speak at a luncheon at the Omni Houston at Westside, Saturday afternoon that the campaign has made off-limits to the general public and the national media who have been accompanying him

and Vice didn’t get word of that…c’mon.

I hate that he got played by those staffers, however its up to him and his editors if they want to continue get led by the nose like that.
