Discussion: Van Susteren: Texas Cartoon Contest 'Recklessly' Endangered Police (VIDEO)

Discussion for article #236045

Off topic, but I’d be interested in knowing who hired the unarmed security guard for the event. Talk about “reckless endangerment.”

“Yeah, we’re going to host this event where we have a contest on who can draw the best (worst) cartoon of the Prophet Muhammad. It should be a good time. We need you in uniform right at the door to give the appearance of security and safety. Maybe you could obtain identification or something while you’re there, you’re getting paid $9.00 for this gig, so do what security guards do. What? Dangerous? Don’t be ridiculous, there will be police there, nothing to be worried about! This isn’t France and Charlie Hedbo, this is Texas and America! This is a good gig, keep asking questions and I’ll get someone else to do it!!”

Greta, you ignorant slut.

Take note, Pam Geller. Even Fox News finds you odious.

If anyone knows about recklessly endangering the country, it’s Fox.

Ha! An angle I hadn’t even thought of. I stand by my previous argument that the only thing Grand Dragon Geller didn’t get out of this incident that she wanted was an innocent attendee in a bodybag. I suppose a cop in a bodybag would have been just as, if not better, for riling the RWNJ islamaphobe bigots.

When Greta Van Scientologist calls you strange, take note.

And yet, FOX News had Geller on numerous times after the attack…maybe if they’d stop inviting people like Geller on we wouldn’t have this happen quite so much.

Yes, “Rosa Parks” Geller was ready for SOMEONE ELSE to die for her cause. Can you imagine the martyrdom she would have claimed on their behalf? Ms. Geller is nuts and somehow able to draw a lot of attention to herself, but nuts just the same.

Greta may be ignorant on most things but she’s right on point here, This Geller lady is scum and she’s dangerous scum, putting people’s lives at risk to promote her stinking hate, she should be air lifted and dropped into a male prison full of radical Muslims!

I love how the only acceptable conservative angle on this (or for that matter the Texas Takeover) is the potential harm or insult to Heroes In Uniform… endangering Police Heroes. Or questioning Military Exercise Heroes. Forget about endangering the community. Or deliberately provoking violence. Or stoking the paranoid fantasies of delusional fringe nutjobs. Or just being ridiculous and stupid.

Van Susteren’s colleague at Fox News, Bill O’Reilly, seemed to agree that the event may have been unnecessarily provocative. He said on Monday that he would have done it “another way.”

“First off, I woulda’ done it in a war zone. Hands down. There would be pictures. Second, there would be falafels…or loofahs…or whatever.”

When various Fox News notables are on your ass for being TOO MUCH of a right wing provocateur you have severe problems with your approach.

I disagree with Greta Van Susteren. People shouldn’t self-censor because there might be a violent response. When MLK organized marches, he knew that the police might respond violently.

You really missed her point.

The marchers put themselves at risk for a cause they believed in.

Geller put others between her and the danger.

It’s not just that Geller and co. “knowingly endangered police officers”…that’s what they wanted. It’s this sliver of the rightwing fringe that are both bigots AND ammosexuals. They get to recklessly endanger police and the community, and then sit back an enjoy the hail of bullets cutting down Muslims, just like in their fantasies.

Truly. If some group were to put on a similar contest for deriding and disparaging Christian icons, you know the outcry would be “War on Christians!”

I’ll bet you don’t put much stock in common decency either.

Eighty years ago it was Jews who were being given the same treatment that Geller metes out to Muslims today:

Being Jewish, I should think that Geller would be ashamed of using the same technique against Muslims that was used against Jews within living memory.

Incidentally, Julius Streicher, the founder and publisher of the virulently anti-Semitic Der StĂźrmer was hanged at Nuremberg in 1946 for crimes against humanity. According to the judgment of the tribunal:

For his 25 years of speaking, writing and preaching hatred of the Jews, Streicher was widely known as ‘Jew-Baiter Number One.’ In his speeches and articles, week after week, month after month, he infected the German mind with the virus of anti-Semitism, and incited the German people to active persecution. … Streicher’s incitement to murder and extermination at the time when Jews in the East were being killed under the most horrible conditions clearly constitutes persecution on political and racial grounds in connection with war crimes, as defined by the Charter, and constitutes a crime against humanity.

Pam Geller: “Muslim-baiter Number One”.

Greta, I’d also like to add that Geller knowingly put the lives of anyone in the immediate vicinity (residents in their homes; people in parks; people at work or patronizing local businesses) in danger. Geller and friends are reckless with other people’s lives. People in that region should be up in arms with this bitch.
