Discussion: Van Jones: 'This Is Heartbreaking'

OK I know what he means, I feel it deeply, but rationally you have to understand that if America were as repulsed as most of us are here by Donald Trump, if there were some core “America” that could be counted on to do the right and proper “American” thing always, we wouldn’t have Donald Trump as the fucking president of the country in the first place. So let’s not be heartbroken. Let’s take what we hope turns out to be a win of the House as the night goes on and work from there. It’s a big deal to have one chamber.

Yes, but what I can’t reconcile is that this is also the country that elected Obama. Twice. WTF has happened?

You really want to know? Because it’s pretty simple, but depressing. Obama was an attractive personality, he had charisma, star quality, all that. You felt like he cared. You could project your hopes onto him. So a lot of people pretty superficially said “I like this guy” and that was that. You listen to how people talk about these decisions, you’d jump off a cliff.

FOX just called the House for us. Gotta think they wouldn’t say it if they didn’t think it. As my doctor said about my last blood-pressure reading, “I’ll take it.”

Scott Walker getting re-elected IS heartbreaking (We in Illinois did push Rauner out - I’ll drink to that!)

Kobach went down hard. That’s something, in Kansas fer Chrissakes. Our blessings are mixed but that’s a form of blessings.

I’m depressed, but not so badly as if we weren’t going to take the House. I’m just not going to watch the news for a few days while Donnie crows about Florida and the Senate.
