Anyone who served in this administration, who was not a hold-over from the past, should be unemployable. Their children should be undate-able. Their line should forever perish from this Earth.
When reached by Politico, Short said “I
think we could have done a better job expressing sympathy for the
victims and outrage at those who perpetrated this evil.”
Uh, no. The problem was not in the expressing. The problem was in feeling those emotions in the first place. Trump doesn’t. People who abet him tend not to either. That’s why they’re scorned and considered outcasts. Nice try though.
UVA? Really? Short’s hiring reminds me of the saying about someone always returning to the scene of the crime.
So this guy’s big accomplishment was pushing through a tax bill that the GOP would have passed with no input at all from the WH. Other than that, they can point to the successful health care revamp, the immigration overhaul, the funding of the border wall and the total redesign of entitlement programs. Or not.
This is a blatant attempt by UVa to hire someone who they think will bring in money, via influence, connections, or whatever. Clearly, those in charge did not look beyond this factor. Some heads should roll. The tenured administrators (head of the business school, provost, maybe others) should go back to their regular offices, where they will continue to receive a redicilously high salary. Maybe the university needs a new president, as well.
Seriously? The Business School? This man has never worked in an actual business in his entire life. Political hackery doesn’t count. Hire a guy with a hot dog stand instead-at least he could provide the students with some actual real-life business know-how…
Anyone know if the RW Koch/Mercer types have some big time money earmarked to the UVA business school? Always follow the $.
I see that UVA is another hotbed of Liberalist Marxist Leftist sedition. What does this say to the kids attending school there? They’ll all turn into Liberalist Marxist Leftists!
“I think we could have done a better job expressing sympathy for the victims and outrage at those who perpetrated this evil.”
Marc, you’re being too modest when it all went as planned. A delayed and insincere apology was offered and the white nationalists were not offended; they knew the WH had their back.
Funny how they think it’s all about optics when they do the optics so badly.
I would have said: While Trump eventually appeared to condemn…
Trump lies to everyone about everything.
In all seriousness–no. Visiting the sins of the father and all that. Not a helpful line of argument. It only causes those folks to dig in-and justifiably. If the cost of “losing” is not just you, but your kids, how hard would you fight? For example, Sarah Sanders has dug her own professional grave. She earned her quisling status all by herself. As did her pathetic predecessor, who decent people should shun. It’s possible to be welcoming to kids and detest their parents politics. I’m not saying that one has to be civil. But let the adults reap what they sow–the kids will suffer enough.
Yez this does seem to be an appointment made by the wingnut welfare network. They just couldn’t pass the opportunity to do some Trump-grade trolling. This is in line with the Pruitt an deVos appointments.
I think the poster was indulging in a bit of biblical humor. Given the epoch fails of this administratio, that seems reasonable.
I completely sympathize, however, with your misintereptation. I too am starting to lose my sense of humor
No. UVA and Richmond don’t deserve to be sullied with this jackass. Everyone spot snarking and just click the link and sign the dang petition.
Business Schools can operate relatively autonomously in practice, but I would think they still do need the Chancellor’s or some other high level body’s stamp of approval. Good for the faculty members who are protesting this – after what happened in their town, they shouldn’t put up with this sort of “business as usual”…
When reached by Politico, Short said “I think we could have done a better job expressing sympathy for the victims and outrage at those who perpetrated this evil.”
Shorter Short: “If I had known I was getting this appointment I would have been more judicious in what we said.”
I just wanted to write “Shorter Short.”
“I think we could have done a better job pretending to care and hiding our true loyalties”.
Universities and news medai are well advised to allow different perspectives on all kinds of issues. But racism, corruption, oligarchy, treason? Adherents to these do not warrant the respect of inclusion.
Short is an alum of the business school! So UVA’s already had their crack at shaping this guy. See also Richard Spencer, Kirstjen Nielsen, and Paul Erickson. (Yes, they’ve produced many more ethical people too, including Mueller.)
