Discussion for article #222849
““It (bullets to the heart) sounds like the Wild West, but it’s probably the most humane way to kill somebody,” Ray said.”
He’s right. It would certainly be far faster and less painful than electrocutions, hydrogen cyanide inhalation and even hangings. The guillotine would also be virtually painless. But we tend to be attracted to the latest murder technology whether it is an improvement or not. We love our executions because we get a hefty charge of schadenfreude with a bolus of righteous indignation.
Another pro-life GOPer with a blood-lust for killing, and no sense of irony.
Here’s a crazy idea; how about we just don’t kill people? That pretty much solves the whole problem, with the side benefit that we join the rest of the civilized world.
Oh goodie. Yet another foul niche for the NRA to infest. “We won’t be safe until we have an executioner in every classroom.”
Because Jesus said,
“Let he who is without conscience squeeze off the first round”
Jeez, the democrats can’t propose reasonable rationing of health care without being accused of creating death panels, but the GOP can actually propose firing squads without a second thought.
Conservatives want to bring back pitchfork crowd and rope and a tree…not even any need for a tribunal, really…
The use of firing squad in Utah came about from the former Mormon teaching of “blood atonement,” now believed in by a tiny minority of Mormons. Basically it says that a Mormon who has committed murder must be bled for that crime in order to enter “heaven.”
Another Great Idea of Western Man.
Again, the irony gene has skipped an entire GOP generation.
Of course there’s always Kim Jong-il, who had a senior officer in the North Korean Army executed with a mortar round. Stand over there, General…no, move back a few feet…a little to the right. Got it. Bam!
Naw, these are viable human beings who’ve made bad decisions being executed.
not a bundle of fetal tissue incapable of living on it’s own outside the womb.
Oh, by the way ***

I say let them do i, although I personally would prefer public hangings. You know, a special segment on the daily 6 O’Clock New of Todays’ Hangings. Roll the obits into the “You Have Been Sentenced …” in one cool segment with music, drums and hangings.
On another note since the supply of lethal injection chemicals has dried up cause they were being used to kill, what will happen to the bullet supply if they’re being used to kill again? Will the ammo mfgrs refuse to supply states with ammo cause they might be used to==for firing squads?
Might just help address that other American issue at the same time.
I say go for it.
More likely the ammo manufacturers will fall all over themselves to pay top dollar for product placement and sponsorship. See? It’s not only meting out justice, it’s revenue positive for the state!
This was just after he granted white guys the right to have firearms.
The troll swalllows any bullshit pumped out by any of the right wing’s favorite single-issue groups. Here, it has been fed the idea that late-term abortions that involve dismembering a fetus are a) common, and b) elective. Of course, rational people, and anyone who reflects even momentarily, know that this is only done in extreme circumstances, where either the mother’s life is in grave danger and the fetus has to be removed (i.e., it’s not elective), or the fetus is so horribly sick or malformed and unviable that ethically it should not be carried to term, but this wasn’t discovered until very late int he pregnancy. But the troll happily conflates these dire situations with elective abortions because it is a gullible idiot supporting manipulative bastards who hate women and their freedoms.
Fixed it.
The trolls comment is under review and could lead to being happily banished from this site. It was just another EG sock-puppet.
All I did was describe how two legal medical procedures could be applied to death penalty cases. If it’s humane enough for a baby, then surely it’s humane enough for a death row inmate.
What’s the problem? Are you offended that the brains of a baby would be vacuumed out as if one was just cleaning out their car?
