“When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross.”
Plausible meaning: “Having the appearance of truth.” What better way to describe something that allows subjective belief to color one’s own reality?
Interesting choice of adjective. It is a Spicer adjective- one that allows him to skate around whether something is actually true or not. King just showed Spicer the word to use to describe the many lies we shall here from His Fraudulency over the next four years.
They were surprised they’d have to hire new cabinet heads. They thought Obama would leave, Trump would move in, and commence to annoy everyone.
As I’ve said many times before, this will be the most accidentally transparent administration in history. The leaking will be rampant because it will be the only way for people who’ve committed their lives to their departments/agencies to get the truth out.
I expect that website to disappear very soon.
Also the EPA:
it would be too much of a stink
Trump has to move this fast.
On the Seventh Day, he plans to rest. He will also bless the day and make it holy.
I don’t think I am kidding about this.
From the increasingly valuable The 14 Characteristics of Fascism (I should put this on speed dial or something)
Item 3–Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause - The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial , ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc.
and
Item 9–Corporate Power is Protected - The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite.
and
Item 11–Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts - Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education, and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts and letters is openly attacked.
Truly Sad.
n if that’s the case, everything will start dropping towards Assange’s (and other clearing houses) way.
Here we go again with the minders for scientists. The very thing they taught me in gradeschool that the USSR did and we would never do because: Exceptional!!!
I guess my grade school teachers never foresaw the 21st century GOP. W did this too.
@asturcot–Like this:
Inadvertent honesty like a five year old struggling to tell his first lie.
Zackly,
@eisenst–Like this?
So which “journalist” will have the fucking balls to put it to Spicer bluntly and ask him when the purge begins?
He can’t make the whole government sign one of his famous non-disclosure agreements, so he’s doing it by executive order.
And the rabid right, which has so much energy to oppose even the hint of executive power when they feel like it, can’t salute fast enough.
Meet the new Fuhrer, same as the old Fuhrer!
Why would the government need to communicate with the public? The government is only supposed to communicate with corporations. And banks. And people with a net worth of more than $20 million.
Sadr City Sean will just say, “Get with the pogrom, [insert reporter’s name]. No more questions!”
“to assure confused agency scientists that they could still publish papers in academic journals.”
What a disingenuous pile of 100% fucking bullshit.
The message could not be clearer to these agency scientists: toe the company line, or there will be “consequences.”
