Discussion: US, UK, France, Germany Unite Against Russia Over Poisoning

How long before Trump gets a question about his support for the UK, which also asks him to explicitly blame Russia - in which he makes a public remark giving more wiggle room for Putin and doubt for the US support for the UK and this joint statement? It seems inevitable, and it would further diminish our relationship with our closest allies because of trump.

I hope I am wrong. But I am pretty sure I am not. Will it be days, hours, or a week?

Putin is the only constant in the squirrely world of Trumpski. I can hardly wait to hear why it really is just as fine as frog fur for Russia to employ a WMD nerve agent on UK territory.

Iz next: Godfather Putin makes his puppet dance the backchannel boogie after making an offer he can’t refuse. “Yes Master. We will say we agree but do nothing.”

I don’t think Trump had anything to do with this statement. Some people in the Administration have been pushing back against him. I suspect Mattis and others have drawn a bright line here against Trump. That’s a good sign and flies in the face of all these puff pieces that Trump is taking control. He isn’t in control.

I wonder who in Trumpworld convinced the President* to sign on to this statement, which seems so counter to his usual stances. It’s more like something read off a teleprompter (they tell me I have to say this) than a 5 am tweet (this is what I’m actually thinking).

Not in control of his own administration.

Not in control of his own words or emotions.

Not in control of his own destiny (oh, hello, Mr. Mueller).

But still in control of the fecking eejits at his rallies who actually still believe that this awful man is Making America Great Again, instead of tearing it down, brick by precious brick.

This complicates the old, No Collusion-No Collusion, rhetoric quite a bit doesn’t it.
Trounce is caught between a Ruskie and a ruble with the hounds of hell nipping at his heels.

He’ll never bring himself to condemn Vlad because, owned, but he will sit back and let a woman do his work for him as he shit talks against that very woman and her country which just happens to be our #1 ally.

The Orange pustule is flaming verbal wars on his own continent, he just can’t get along with anyone it seems.
Its dictators all the way down or nothing with Trumpsky Von Dumpsky.

Garry Kasparov wrote on Twitter that Putin can deal with a proportional response, but would be damaged by an overwhelming response with sanctions etc. Where is the overwhelming response? We and our allies are playing checkers.

So Treasury says we’re finally putting the sanctions in force, and people other than Trump have had relatively harsh words for Trump. It finally reached the point that Trump and his enablers couldn’t ignore the Russian actions anymore.

Donny must be wishing he had that back channel set up so he could call Vlad and explain that “*I had no choice, they made me do it! And they were calling me weak for not doing anything!”

It wasn’t really tRump…it was President David Dennison. AP managed to leave that out.

Maybe if we go after their imports of Russian Vodka and caviar we might make a bigger dent. Remember how well that worked with Cuban cigars?

I’m thinking more of freezing all Russian financial accounts outside of Russia. Then sanctioning countries that won’t comply with that. I’m thinking of tough stuff. Of course I’m not sure what the logistics are or what the mechanics would be. I know it will piss a lot of people off, but that’s the point.

I agree. We look pretty feckless at this point. I think that’s the whole idea behind Putin’s brazen attack. It shouldn’t go unpunished and it shouldn’t be your typical response. It should be composed of both an openly pain-inducing response and something more stealth in the works.

Can remnants of western alliances(deep state), set in place after the 2nd World War be resurrected to function?

…Here’s Hoping! .
