Discussion: US Says Far Fewer Iraqi Refugees On Sinjar Mt

Discussion for article #226379

On BBC News just now, one rep from the Polish government didn’t exactly disagree with the US assessment, but he did say there may be other people hidden in the mountains that the US hasn’t seen. You have to think/hope, though, that the Pentagon’s got satellite eyes on the area, which means they can see the dental work of anyone on that mountain.

“The Yazidis who remain are in better condition than previously believed and continue to have access to the food and water that we have dropped,” Kirby said. “Based on this assessment the interagency has determined that an evacuation mission is far less likely. Additionally, we will continue to provide humanitarian assistance as needed and will protect U.S. personnel and facilities.”

Are in better condition than previously believed …one would think that somebody somewhere was ginning up the hysterics in an attempt to lure the US back into the fray … THIS is why we should remain cautious about jumping in (are you listening Hillary, Gramps and Linsey?)

Better condition then believed thanks to food and water air drops and strategic bombing of ISIS which have allowed thousands to already escape. Context my friend is always a good thing.

FYI I am not trying to lessen the importance of this part of your comment; “we should remain cautious about jumping in.”
