Discussion for article #221980
It’s further proof that we live in an oligarchy, not a democratic republic.
This would have sucked if this would have happened under Bush.
Thankfully, under Obama and the lobbyist he appointed to the FCC, this will be awesome. Like the TPP!
Thanks, Obama!
It’s kinda disgusting that these minimal rules don’t even apply to transfers from one network to another. So that opens up an opportunity for comcast and verizon and all the other big players to just start up a subsidiary to connect content providers, and another one for regular people (no server-style uploading allowed) and then charge out the wazoo even if some semblance of neutrality were to be retained.
This is what happens when you appoint lobbyists.
Right after promising not to appoint lobbyists!
Obama stormed into Washington with a pledge that “lobbyists won’t find a job in my White House.”
He followed it up on his first day in office with an executive order banning former lobbyists from working on issues related to their lobby.
But by his third day in office he issued the first of many waivers to appoint William Lynn, a former lobbyist for Raytheon, to Deputy Secretary of Defense.
Some observers believe the FCC’s proposed rules could benefit consumers in the long run.
I didn’t know TPM had hired comedy writers.
“The agency also proposes to enhance government oversight of such deals to ensure that they don’t harm competition or limit free speech”
Separate but equal doesn’t exist. Of course it will harm competition. This is unAmerican.
