Yes…the same mind and planning that led to six bankruptcies applied to yet another hot spot…God help us.
I’m certain that Syria will be reimbursing us for the cost of maintaining the troops there. And of course 'Rump never said what he’s on record as saying, so there’s that.
Somehow “Trump’s Original Plan” does not inspire much confidence. What this tells me is that Trump is not Hitler. Hitler called the Shots.
Trump has Dictatorial tendencies…he is too lazy to do the work to BE one.
Nor to be interested in military matters in Syria beyond what Vladdy wants.
So… That’s 1K troops, plus probably another 5K contractors… Good. At least we’re not abandoning the Kurds to genocide at the hands of Turkey.
Wait - I was under the distinct impression that Rump had full control over the US military to do what he whatever he wants with:
President Donald Trump appeared to insinuate in a recent interview that his supporters – the police, military and “Bikers for Trump,” he claims – could turn violent against Democrats.
“You know, the left plays a tougher game, it’s very funny. I actually think that the people on the right are tougher, but they don’t play it tougher. OK?” Trump said in an interview with Breitbart News published Wednesday. “I can tell you I have the support of the police, the support of the military, the support of the Bikers for Trump – I have the tough people, but they don’t play it tough – until they go to a certain point, and then it would be very bad, very bad.”
Oh, well, maybe the above is only in what’s left of his mind. This sounds to me like the military is essentially telling Rump to pound sand, at least in terms of foreign policy.
5K contractors are there to build a wall.
The effort it must take to ever get him to do anything close to the right thing (for those few with an inclination to do so) must be astonishing.
I think the “right thing” is a by-product of someone telling him how the Kurds are helping him.
You may have seen stories last week about some American citizen detained over there who has been trying to come back, and the Trump administration has been working to block her. Don’t believe she’s the only one. And the Kurds have them and a lot of other Western nations’ citizens in their camps. Nobody wants the ISIS folks to come back to their countries.
So there’s a big reason right there for Trump to support a policy of protecting the Kurds, as otherwise he’d have a different mess on his hands.
The decision to leave the troops comes as a result of the administration’s failure to diplomatically establish a “safe zone” in northeast Syria.
No failure. No failure. You’re the failure.
It’s hard to craft policy while you’re pulling it out of your anus.
Unless, heaven forbid, the bone spurs were to kick in.
So, Trump is done using this “shiny object” to distract from his scandals, now it is on to the next one.
I long for the day when we get a real President again (always presuming the republicans/Russians don’t steal another election).
Give it another few weeks, it will be back up to 2000 troops.
administration’s failure to diplomatically establish a “safe zone” in northeast Syria.
That is too funny. Erdogan is adamant about wiping out the Kurds in Syria. Always has been. And our moronic autocrat thought he was going to ‘art the deal’ with Turkey’s moronic autocrat? Yup. That also worked well in NKorea, Russia, the EU, Iran, Iraq…
Trump actually had a plan??? Nooooooooo, I find that really hard to believe. That would have required intelligent thought, which he completely lacks. Low IQ ya’ know.
The Big Liar said they ALL would be leaving by the end of that month. The barely functioning illiterate must have thought he said the end of the next century. Well, at least that’s what Bolton told him he said, right? When you are as demented as this senile Russian Mafia hood, you can’t concentrate beyond the last person you talked to that day.
Kushner had a plan but his buddy the Chainsaw Saudi Prince shredded it?
