This is the first low energy move from Putin I’ve seen in a long while. It’s an act of frustration that his spies are getting outed and arrested. Even Time Magazine grabbed hold of the guy who was Oleg and the Kremlin’s enforcer against Manafort. I suspect that some other spy that we don’t yet know about was nabbed.
Here’s a deal: we trade the Russian spies Butina and Trump. They give us Whelan in return. Deal?
Typical parasite pig Russians. They are literally the scum of the Earth and if we get rid of this traitor Trump they need to pay severely for their crimes.
For starters cut off all Russian immigration and bar travel to that actual shithole country. Cut them off from the global financial system entirely and seize every penny from their government, oligarchs and all of their family members. Drive down the price of oil to bankrupt them entirely and build up the military on their boarders. Time to take out the trash of the world…Russians and Republicans.

I like Russians a lot…they are generally shrewd, funny, loyal and multitalented. You have to be to survive and thrive in that culture. The one thing they can’t seem to do is govern themselves. They always end up with the worst people running things, with rare exceptions. I wish they’d just admit defeat, throw over the rotten Putin regime and call in the Swiss to administer them.

Who knows if this guy is spy or not, one thing is for sure. The Cold War is on again in full force. Any American that goes to Russia should understand this, no different than North Korea now. The only Americans there should be in the consulate.

I’ll lay odds that Trump actually defends Putin over this arrest.
(It’s certainly been the pattern to date.)
The trouble is they have Fox News on steroids over there. Putin and his allies in the state media have successfully convinced the people that government will always be corrupt, so there’s no point in resisting it. If they threw Putin out on his rear, the conventional wisdom says that whatever government replaces him would be just as bad, so why worry?
@tiowally I’d take it one further. Trump will publicly out an actual spy in the process of disavowing this guy. "I don’t know what he was doing over there. I didn’t send him. If he was caught taking photos of the Kremlin, it’s not on me. I already got all the photos I need from John Smith.

I (almost) agree. T rumpp may acknowledge the arrest in passing, but he won’t give it a 2nd thought. The reason i say this is #1, this is an Intelligence agent we’re talking about, and #2, this is T rumpp. He does not care for Intelligence.
