Discussion: US Census Director Abruptly Quits Bureau

Efforts to undercount minorities will continue apace.

My gut feeling is that this is a not-so transparent effort to jerry-rig the census and, thus, do even more damage to the electoral process through yet more blatant gerrymandering.

Gee, maybe they’ll bring Tom DeLay in to head up the bureau.

The U.S. recently surpassed 325 million people. By 2044, whites are expected to become a minority. In 2020, the questionnaire is expected to include a new classification for Americans who are of Middle Eastern descent.

Why in the fuck are the last two sentences relevant? Of all of the data points and quirks and anecdotes about the growth of this country, those two are the ones you chose? Two which conveniently play into the current administration’s - nevermind the entire GOP’s - twisted view of the “threat” to whites?

I accept that I may be overreacting, but am I the only one who read this little blurb and just thought…wait, what? Why are you telling me these two oddly specific items?

Working in government when an election makes a dramatic change is no fun. It’s like being in a hostile takeover in the private sector. Why put up with that when you were planning to retire anyway? I suspect there will be more of these early retirements throughout the federal government (think EPA, State Dept, etc.) as the new guys on top make life difficult for civil servants and provide no real support.

The director is nominated by the president for a five-year term and confirmed by the Senate.

In 2020, the Census will find report a greater than expected population shift toward solid-red states.

Who needs a Director anyway ? ? …

It’s not hard to fucking count ===

2 republicans + 2 republicans == 6 republicans …

6 Democrats + 6 Democrats == 10 Democrats …

SEE … EASY ! ! —

Ummm, that’s one less at the Census Bureau.

Methinks this guy wanted no part of the planned bathtub drowning event that the neo-Kock Repubs have planned.

Seems like another office that goes empty in Trumptown. No people counted, no services needed.
