The Congress shall have the power to declare a vacation.
And…
Sit on the fence. See how things go. Run for reelection.
I find it ironic that the Saudis are hosting the training of the “good” Syrian rebels.
A lot of the funding for the “bad” Syrian rebels who morphed into ISIS came from the Saudis. Now the Kingdom is playing the other side of the fence.
I hope we don’t give those rebels trained in Saudi Arabia any advanced weapons–especially anti-aircraft weapons useful to terrorists–anytime soon.
That would be “Illegal US Airstrikes”, but, we know, AP.
and TPM.
Well, the Israelis won’t shoot down every “stray” plane. Somebody has to do it and, fitting with this nation’s history, we will arm the least effective alternative with the biggest downside potential.
Why illegal? ISIS is a non-state actor, Syria is failed state. Who’s sovereignty are we violating? In fact, we should have been using drone on them three weeks ago.
Syria isn’t going to say Boo about this. Hell, they WANT us to take out ISIS, it makes winning their own war easier.
It would be much better if Obama would do what George H. W. Bush did in the first Gulf War and what Vladimir Putin suggested, get a Security Council resolution. Unfortunately the Americans are stiffing the UN Security Council with the ridiculous lie that Russia would veto a resolution to bomb ISIS in Syria when Russia has publicly promised to back such a resolution. The question is why does Obama hate the UN and international law?
Maybe Obama is just embarrassed at what the US did the last time it went for a UN resolution on Iraq. You know, all that lying and the sacrifice of Colin Powell’s reputation? When you are doing the right thing, covering your ass becomes less important. When you are lying your way into a war, its crucial to con as many people as possible so later you can say “but you voted for it!”
