Discussion: Unpredictable. Unhinged. Dangerous - Asian Countries Look Warily At Trump

PM Abe hitched his wagon to Trump and will suffer the same fate as everyone else who gets involved with the conman. President Tsai got burned early, and I can only hope she’s learned her lesson.

The senile Retiree in Chief leads his demented brigade of chocolate cake eating Russian agents by pushing buttons on his Twitter machine. One hopes he will not get confused and start pushing buttons on his doomsday machine. The entire Planet Earth considers him unpredictable, unhinged, and dangerous. He likes that kind of attention. A lot.

This is what you voted for, Trump voters. Someone who would “shake things up.”

Enjoy the next four years in your bunker.

some see Trump’s bluster as a shrewd attempt to press China, the North’s most important ally and trading partner, into pressuring North Korea more aggressively over its nuclear program.

And just who, AP, would these “some” be? What are their credentials and expertise that would lead me to believe that Trump’s doing stupid stuff is a ‘shrewd’ new way forward. The two persons you quote don’t really assert any shrewdness on Trump’s part.

Hey straw men have opinions too!

Trump remains mired in a grotesque and maniacal reality show, incapable of any kind of maturing, spiritual growth.

Short fingers on a soft pasty white hand which has never done a day’s hard work don’t make for a threatening fist.

This all seems like quite a positive development. The status quo for the last number of years has been untenable, in that it has allowed a continual ratcheting up of the threat from North Korea. Trump’s unpredictability might just provide the catalyst the region needs.

That’s a consensus view in the UK newspapers.

I have not been particularly interested in the “Trump has dementia” angle. But this video from Trump speaking in 2008 (about “Citizen Kane”!) is pretty striking. It’s not that he was a rocket scientist but he sure seems a lot sharper and more articulate. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a63ymFn6nS0&sns=tw

The writers seem to be playing along with the Trumpsters belief that this is all part of some shrewd plan, that Trump isn’t impulsive, capricious, ill-informed and willfully ignorant - and thus capable of unspeakable actions. That is they are writing as if Trump is a ‘regular’ President.

I doubt that they realize how dangerous it is to leave the impression to readers that there are people outside of the Trumpian bubble within the US that there is a shrewd plan, rather than an unhinged nutcase leading the US.

AP’s “Some” are the people who come up to me all the time and assert that various ridiculous propositions are “out there” Out there, indeed.

I hope he doesn’t last until then. When are republicans going to put a stop to this charade? He is not making America great again. On the contrary, he’s destroying what he can in order to enrich himself, listening to Bannon and company, and shaking the very foundations of government.

Party before country, republicans? Really?

“Unpredictable. Unhinged. Dangerous.” And those are his good points.

Meh, China will come around and in return trade deficits with China will increase. More jobs will move to China. More steel will be purchased from China with our infrastructure projects. Trump’s family will increase their wealth with trademarks. The shrewd negotiator is winning big!

I’m hoping continued bad news about Trump emboldens Republicans to distance themselves from him to the point where he is defenseless.
