Discussion: Undocumented Immigrant Who Killed Student Worked For Prominent Iowa GOPer

I don’t see any mention of the fact that Cristhian Bahena Rivera was vetted through the government’s E-Verify system and was an employee in good standing. How is this possible? The E-Verify system has got to be fixed or scrapped. Can we get some in depth reporting on this?

“You heard about today with the illegal alien coming in, very sadly, from Mexico and you saw what happened to that incredible, beautiful young woman,” Trump told the crowd in Charleston.

The victim was Mollie Tibbetts, Mr President. Did you say her name, even once?

Where did you read about Rivera’s clearing E-Verify?

You can’t make this stuff up! Republicans want it both ways - cheap labor (think Mexico) AND no illegals. Yet…when push comes to shove, it’s all about cheap labor. Sad…

Could you maybe bury the lead a little more?
The “Worked For Prominent Iowa GOPer” part of the article which click-bated everyone to read this was 530 words/12 paragraphs in. But really thanks for letting me know that Trump is anti-immigration, I didn’t know that and I’m sure no one else on TPM did either.

So much for the GOP trying to politicize the tragic death of Ms. Tibbets, while using Rivera as a cudgel for the 2018 elections.

Something is not normal here … not that a murder is normal … but … it is bizarre … and makes one wonder - what are the missing pieces.

If you haven’t found it yet… here is one place among many that have it.

Prominent, wealthy Republican farmer in Iowa employing undocumented workers? No way. Fake news.

The Republican governor said she is appalled at the broken immigration system that allowed for a predator to live in their community and that everything should be done to bring justice. Certainly she means also punishing the prominent Republican farmer that allowed for the undocumented migrant to work on his farm. Yes, I know, the farmer claims everything was kosher and in good standing but so far that’s his word and I’m not buying it.

Totally agree.
