one word: disgusting!
Three words: it doesn’t matter. The fascists in Hunter’s district will only vote for a “white man.” They want apartheid, and they don’t care how they get it.
Under Indictment And Up For Re-election
GOP SOP
I know I am an old timer and not in step, but I thought being under indictment would knock at least one of them off the ballot. I guess the plan is to get elected and then spend all of their time and their constituents’ money defending themselves? How great is that?
What a country.
“Michael Grimm won his Staten Island district in 2014 while fighting fraud and tax evasion charges. He subsequently pleaded guilty to tax fraud, and stepped down from Congress—a week before he was sworn in.”
How old school of Grimm.
I have the sense that maybe Collins would behave similarly, as I understand that he did make an effort to withdraw from the reelection campaign after the indictment, but found that state election law basically didn’t let him withdraw in favor of a R replacement. So he’s decided to soldier on to hold the seat. Perhaps he plans to resign after the election to force a special election to fill the seat, and his party will be able to name someone else to run in that election. That’s actually half-way honorable. I would say plain honorable, except he’s running a sleaze-ball campaign.
Hunter resign just because he’s been found guilty or admitted guilt in a plea deal? I don’t see it. Maybe he would if the House was about to expel him, so he could claim to have done the honorable thing before it was done for him. But expulsion takes 2/3. Today’s R party is such that I don’t see expulsion, even of someone convicted of a felony, attracting the R votes you need to get to 2/3. Hunter will carry on from prison if it comes to that.
Such upstanding American citizens.
Feels like after the last 10 years it’s getting near the time for another civil war to save the country from political criminals.
Forget privatized prisons or reform.
round em up and send them to the saudi’s or russia.
seems to be there preferred way of life.
The more republicans who land in the big house, the more hope there is of prison reform.
Republicans are basically racist traitors. That’s all I see when I am forced to even look at one for more than a few seconds. Racists and traitors.
I’ll tell you one thing though. If the Dems somehow pull off some gains in the states and House I expect a massive response and multitudes of Republican indictments from coast to coast. There needs to be a price for these maggots to pay. And it needs to happen soon.
Republicans are putting out ads calling him a Socialist.
I don’t remember Grand Island being that friendly to dems, but I haven’t lived in WNY in a long time.
It’s unbelievable, however, that Collins in under indictment and won’t leave the race.
The party of law and order. Their law. Their order.
Both under democratic governors. Are they restricted to filling the seat with same party?
If they are, the most left leaning republican that can be found
Hunter referred to the Justice Department as “the Democrats’ arm of law enforcement,”
How fucking stupid does he think people are? This one is just too unbelievable to me. I understand that the average GOP voter votes against their own interest all the time, which of course is stupid… BUT anyone who can swallow this one is really a dimwit. FFS all the top people are republican appointees.
Looks like most everyone commenting here is of the “guilty until proven innocent” mantra. Interesting that both of these men are form democratic strongholds. I’ll reserve judgement until the courts make a final verdict. Looks like charges were made at just the “inopportune” time for them, makes one wonder.
Blanket statements like that are the true “racist” tells.
How about “innocent until proven guilty” birdford. We are in America under our constitution.
Do you have any fucking idea of what the circumstances around both Hunter’s and Collins’ entanglements would lead any right-minded person to conclude?
Both should withdraw and throw themselves upon the mercy of the courts.
You should try reading the article. Both men are from safe Republican districts, not Democratic strongholds. “Innocent until proven guilty” is relevant in a criminal trial, not in an election.
How so?
