Discussion: UN: Up To 245 People Missing After Two Mediterranean Shipwrecks

This is not sustainable. The traffickers are making millions by preying on these idiots who think that Italy is a land of gold and free beer. At the same time, the traffickers work with NGOs who require victims to justify their meddling and “rescues”. The best thing would be for Italy to finance a hunter-killer squadron of Libyans to hunt down and eliminate traffickers.

By some surveys, approximately a sixth of mankind wants to haul up roots and move to another country. Most of that 1.2 billion want to move to advanced economies for more opportunity, which makes sense. The US foreign-born population is also about a sixth of the population (50 million). This not only suggests that the US has not done such a horrible job managing migration, but that it could be that a sixth of people are wanderers and always have been. Certainly, from the time I was about six I wanted to go places and speak other languages and learn about other cultures. Other kids were horrified by the thought.

Hey, just got back from an extended European trip. I love traveling, and have been to many countries multiple times that people have not heard of. That being said, I am a firm proponent of borders and of the control of said borders by citizens of the country.
