There’s a very simple solution to this: Either Russia gets out or the USA does. You can’t fight with an allay like that. 50 % of what Russia is up to in Syria is antagonistic to what the USA is up to there. Russia’s there to prop up Assad and the USA wants him out. You can’t fight like that.
I spent a year in Vietnam and saw a bunch of major screw ups. That’s why the military coins phrases like SANFU and FUBAR. And shit happens. But this Syria thing is a world class cluster fuck that makes past fuck-ups look like well oiled machines. It’s fucked and there is no way to un-fuck it.
