Discussion: UN Officials Say They're 'Sickened' By Public Hatred Against Muslims

Discussion for article #243768

We are going through a tough time in this country trying to figure out how we feel about a new group. Many well meaning people have been trying to highlight the connection between Muslims in this country and it’s beginnings. This is nonsense. The closet thing to large Muslim population we have ever had on our territory was in the Philippines and that did not go well. We have this with EVERY group, the Muslims think they have it tough ask a historian how the Irish, Poles, Hispanics, Chinese, Japanese and many many others fared at first. Common American decency will come to the fore but it takes time. We do NOT need Welsh and Dieng to lecture us when Christian are being terrorized and churches are being vandalized in the ME. Also, if you think it’s only the West that has problems with Muslims, take a look around the world … for whatever reason it is VERY popular. I DO believe this is NOT a clash of civilizations … there is only one civilization involved.

UNITED NATIONS (AP) — Two senior U.N. officials said Monday they are
“sickened by blatant manifestations of hatred and intolerance” by public
figures and others, particularly against Muslims, in response to recent
extremist attacks.
…
I’m sickened by it as well. And quite a bit comes from Trump. I think he should apologize to every innocent Muslim on the planet and then invite them to come to America on his dime.

Yes, actually we do.

Muslims have been in the US since the 19th century.

It’s a hard issue. But we can’t wish them off the planet. Simply cannot. 1. We can only think about ways to get along with them, and 2. don’t tell me that we’ve already done more than enough and we’re victims. If No. 2 troubles you, please review again No. 1.

Incidentally we wouldn’t be in this pickle if George W. Bush and the advisors now leading his brother straight to hell weren’t so abysmally idiotic.
