Discussion: Ukrainian Parliament Votes To Impose Martial Law In Wake Of Russian Attack

“Little help, America? How come you guys never take our calls now??”

The fact martial law in this vote was defined incredibly vaguely isn’t all that reassuring – that’s how mistakes get made. It only takes one angry private to think this authorizes him to blast away. If not for that vagueness, the actual actions being undertaken by the Ukrainian parliament look quite measured and reasonable.

Trump is so jealous right now he could spit.

I have seen this movie, a National Leader sees himself in political trouble, provokes a fight with some foreign power, wave the patriotic flag and ride the wave of support. Sometimes things get out of hand and they find themselves in a worse position like in Georgia in 2008 or Argentina in 1982. But leaders keep trying it, it’s not them the ones that die. Funny the ones that die had nothing to gain out of the whole affair, just a life to lose. But that is the story of the world, people dying so that leader can achieve power or honor or glory or whatever.

It’s a power grab.

Things are sooo serious as to call for Martial Law, but not as bad as to cancel a football game
