Looking at the big picture, this disgusting episode (especially in combination with the Bundy debacle) is actually a positive development. Teabaggers have always portrayed themselves as super-moral, uber-patriotic Republicans, and this will be a nice crack in that facade of complete bullshit. Whatever electoral advantage these Mississippi nimrods had in mind pales in comparison to the damage they’ve already done to their own ridiculous cause.
The Republicans are trying to have it three ways: that the moderate Republicans beat the conservative Tea Partiers, that the mainstream Republicans as just as conservative as the Tea Party, and that the Democrats are lying when the Democrats say that the Republicans are just as conservative as the Tea Party.
Moral: If you don’t like liars and don’t like the Tea Party, don’t vote GOP.

His medical condition is abject fear of being assaulted while in jail.
