Just say no to fascism!
At the end of his speech, Spencer said, “Hail Trump, hail our people, hail victory!”
If you’re going to carry the message there, Dickie boy, you’ve got to work on your pronunciation. It’s: “Heil!” Got it? “Heil.”
Ah, Richard Spencer–thanks to our asleep at the switch Media he has become the heart and soul of the racist Republican mainstream.
He told a crowd of about 400, “At the end of the day, America belongs to white men,” according to CNN.
Based on the results of the 2016 election, I say props for accuracy if nothing else.
Ouch! Dammit. You’re unfortunately correct.
thousands gathered on campus to protest
one woman who refused to leave was taken away in handcuffs
Thank you to the protestors. Thank you for your civil disobedience. Thank you for summoning the sunlight.
The Aggies shoulda brought back their annual bonfire to celebrate Spencer’s speech … and fueled it with the building he was appearing in.
Nahh. The Memorial Student Center is a literal war memorial to Aggies lost in the wars. Better to find some tar and feathers if we are going to go old-school.
2-hour speech?!
That’s a long frickin’ speech.
Fight TRUMPISM.
TRUMPISM. we must brand this for what it is.
You know, if I was a reporter in Dallas, I’d find Spencer’s parents and ask them how he got this way. They live here - his father is a surgeon.
I’d love to hear what they have to say about this person they raised.
He went to St. Marks in Dallas, an elite prep school. Lots of money wasted on that kid. Alumni of the school have been fundraising for anti-hate efforts in response to the Spencer publicity. They want nothing to do with him.
Yes I know - I know all about it. St. Mark’s issued a statement from the entire school repudiating Spencer and apologizing for him.
I would still like someone to talk to his parents. I know he’s an adult but I want to know how he got this way.
My ophthalmologist knows Spencer’s father. I asked him what happened but he didn’t know -he doesn’t know him that well.
Heil, YeahBaby.
Well that’s weird because I know he grew up rich. His father is a retinal surgeon and they are rolling in money.
This Aggie (Class of '99) is proud of the push-back. A&M is known as a conservative campus to be sure, but keep in mind the Memorial Student Center (connected to Rudder Tower where the speech was) is literally a Memorial (hats off inside, no walking on the grass) to former students who, among other things, died fighting Hitler.
I saw a picture in the Twitterverse last night of a protest sign: “Texas Aggies: fighting Nazis since 1941 (It’s taking longer than we thought!)”
I was so gratified to see that A & M reacted like they did. Nobody wants this POS anywhere near them.
