Belittling a riot by drunks and sociopaths by saying it’s not as bad as something else is absurd. Not one is trying to conflate a riot by college babies and roving angry white males with the routine killing of black folks by white cops. When folks riot, cops roll – whether it’s at a pumpkin festival or because of the welling up of black outrage after decades of systematic abuse and discrimination. Hey – at least Keene’s cops didn’t roll out their Bearcat.
That’s kind of the point.
How many cops were stormtrooping over the rioters? How many arrests? How many beatings? Are there pictures of cops in full riot gear grabbing reporters?
They “broke out the tear gas”? That doesn’t mean they used it. Where’s the pictures? Is it because white college kids don’t get Obamaphones? Is that why we get no pictures?

There is a whole other language for white misbehavior and criminality. Student Mitt Romney could dress up like a cop and pull people over and that’s all good, clean American fun. Student Mitt Romney could beat the living daylights out of another student and it’s considered hijinks and high-spiritedness.None of those episodes ever stained him. Mitt was no angel, but alas, he grew up to be a billionaire (because he’s hiding his billions offshore, but we don’t care about that). And he just might be our first Mormon president, replete with magical underwear (but we’re not supposed to inquire about the bogus religion started by a schizophrenic con man or those weird underwear). White privilege is an amazing thing.

People in Ferguson are rioting because of years of abuse by cops where blacks have been
the primary recipients of the abuse. People (primarily white) in
Keene are rioting because they’re drunken shitheads.
So, when are the Keene rioters going to be compared to animals by
a Fox news commentator? When will there be calls by Keene
locals for the police to mow them down?

Well deserved. It’s like someone put PCP in the kegs. Totally ridiculous. Stay on this, TPM. If there aren’t numerous charges filed and a bunch of students expelled, we should all know about it so we can express our impotent outrage.

That’s exactly the point. Where is the Gestapo-like police invasion with assault vehicles, turrets trained on unarmed people, snipers, tear gas, all the rest of the violent military invasion that occurred in Ferguson?
CLUE: Overtly racist police American KKK runs rampant, kills black citizens with total impunity.

I’d like to know the net wealth and gross income of the white parents of everyone who was involved at Keene.
Pretty sure that’s gonna’ be the delineation between the scenarios of Keene and Ferguson.

anyone got a factcheck: were there any cars flipped over in Ferguson? I don’t remember hearing that there were…would consider that somewhat of a telling difference.

The Keene, NH police department HAS an MRAP and lots of ex-pentagon equipment just like the Ferguson, MO police dept.
Curiously, these were completely ABSENT from the riot last night (as were the snipers, riot-police, and dogs.)
Oh, that’s right, these were RICH WHITE COLLEGE KIDS so they were not “rioting” they were “celebrating noisily”.

Anyway, I found some. And strangely enough, they look like riot cops, not stormtroopers. A riot cop has a shield and a helmet and a baton.
I don’t think I see a single SMG. Or tear gas grenade launcher.
