"Twitter Suspends Alt-Right Accounts, "

So it suspended Trump’s account…even his “official” one?

Too little, too late. Twitter blew their chance to be acquired by allowing the hate speech to go on too long. In the last few days I am seeing a really big increase in ads from nasty companies like Exxon on twitter on my phone. If it keeps up I will drop using twitter entirely.

And not a moment too soon! It’s a good thing nothing bad happened from all the vile abuse and lies being spread.

Perhaps someone should talk to these companies about horses and barn doors…

I wonder if social media will completely tank. I’m just speculating, but we sure have seen very fast revolutions in patterns of internet use.
I only went on FB to keep touch with family, but I can’t stand it, especially as I see more and more ads on my page, as they take advantage of their data mining.

Go start your own twitter. Also fuck off and die.

Nah. Growing pains. The grand idealist daydream of an ongoing, uncensored, “free speech” global discussion forgot the crude fact that we still have to actively marginalize the radicalized, the extremist, the damaging, the folks who think the social contract doesn’t apply to them, i.e., those who would see the world burn if it meant they could rule over the ashes, etc. It’s now learning that lesson.

That being said, Facebook is still the Devil’s Toilet.

I supposed they left trumps account? Of course they did. How about Bannon?

For all of Facebook’s recent talk about fake news, every time I go on, I see some hoax story about a celebrity’s death. It’s often the biggest box on the page.

Can’t believe all the barn doors they are shutting now. Little late Zuckerberg.

Last I checked, Twitter, as a private company, is not subject to First Amendment restraints. Fuck off, you alt-twits. As another poster noted, go start your own Twitter; it’s still a free country, last I checked.

I guess I am old fashioned, but this appears to be closing the stable door after the horse has bolted.

Ad Blocker. Free. Works great.

We never participated in social media after walking away from our Facebook accounts years ago, are we missing anything?

I don’t think so.

The Atlantic had an interesting article recently

Does that get rid of the “suggested posts”?

I walked away from Facebook years ago when former coworkers wanted to stay in touch.

They were one of the reasons I left the job.

"Twitter wasn’t alone in acting this week: Google and Facebook both announced that they would cut off access to platform advertising for fake news pages and websites, which critics have said helped spread and lend credence to many of Donald Trump’s unsubstantiated campaign claims."

Just in time!
