Those, or other, groups can still archive tweets from those politicians, they just can’t do it automatically via the Twitter API, they would need to manually scrape the tweet (from their own twitter account which is entirely legal) or via screen grabs. A hassle, but they won’t completely be erased, so continue to expect idiotic tweets from bigots and hypocrits.
I’d be more bothered by this if not for the fact that we’ve seen time and time again a politician’s twitter feed being managed by aides, executive assistants, and interns, rather than the pols themselves. #letlandinghambebartlett

I hope something comes along to supplant Twitter in the marketplace of ideas if this is what you get to enable politicians to hide behind their spontaneous and thoroughly revealing bullshit utterances. The twitter revolution is over. You may now return to your regularly scheduled programming.
Remember when they were the biggest thing since sliced bread when the Iranian citizenry rose up and took to condemning their leadership? Well, what’s good for the goose should be good for the gander all over the world.
