Discussion: Twitter Cracks Down On 'Abusive' Tweets From Politicians By Warning Users

It’s a start. Certainly better than nothing but it further puts the lie to the fact they won’t/can’t suspend Trump because the reality is he’s one of the main reasons they remain relevant. I’ve been an avid Twitter user since 2008. I can tell you both from research and my own experience that most of the “engagement” on Twitter now consists of news media posting stories/hot takes; political activists; and bots. That’s pretty much it.

The days where you could use Twitter to engage with a specific sub-culture or community in constructive ways are long gone. It has degenerated into mostly a rage-fueled, outrage factory.

Wish they’d ban him, then he’d go into a true meltdown and cardiac arrest.

“In the past, we’ve allowed certain tweets fleckspittle hate turds that violated our rules barely surpassed the cumulative IQ of a Klan rally to remain on Twitter because they were in the public’s interest our way of licking Trump’s boots.”

Fixed.

I can’t help but think Ravelry’s decision had something to do with this.

Twitter previously defended itself by claiming that “blocking a world leader from Twitter or removing their controversial Tweets would hide important information people should be able to see and debate.”

BS. If the President wants to send a public message to North Korea or whoever, he can tell his Press Secretary to make an official statement.

This will never officially apply to Trump, so don’t hang by the neck waiting.

Twitter said a tweet that “may be in the public’s interest” but is still “in violation of our rules” would be hidden by a notice that the user would need to tap or click on to see the tweet. The notice would explain that “the Twitter Rules about abusive behavior apply to this Tweet.”

we’ll see what happens™

Twitter, President Donald Trump’s social media platform of choice, announced on Thursday that it would start labeling “abusive” tweets from high-profile politicians.

I think this is what assholes refer to as a badge of honor.

Except when we want to know what you and Putin talk about behind closed doors at tax-payer funded meetings.

That’s why I left. And frankly my life is far better for not following twitter. It truly is a distortion of reality of what is happening and what “average Americans are thinking” in the rest of the country and world.

Since this policy goes into effect immediately as far as I can tell, the angrier Trump gets the less we will hear from him on Twitter. Is it possible that through operant conditioning Trump can be trained to act like a normal person? He may not have the attention span to notice when he’s been reinforced, and he doesn’t seeem to have the capacity to recognize or feel punishment.

Oh that? That’s none of our business.

Silly me —I should have known better than to ponder such things. I keep forgetting that the world I once lived in no longer exists.

I just leave a note on the refrigerator so I won’t forget. Works most of the time.
