Calling the Sandy Hook school shooting a hoax calls for so much worse than a ban, but I’ll take it – what a scumbag.
Awww…Dorsey’s gutless straddling of the middle ground accomplishes nothing.
Reminder time/somewhat o-t
Meanwhile, back at the ranch…
Jeff Sessions says he will meet with several state attorneys general to discuss whether social media companies are “intentionally stifling” [conservative] free speech and obstructing competition, the Department of Justice said Wednesday.
The remarks escalate recent charges of anti-conservative bias by President Donald Trump and Republican lawmakers and followed Senate testimony by executives from Facebook and Twitter on foreign influence operations on social media. Last week Trump blasted Google, alleging it muzzles conservative voices.
Jones struggled for years attacking W and R’s, then began seriously banking when he turned on Obama and the D’s.
He’s not a smart man.
Let me know when the twitter board bans Jack Dorsey.
“Twitter Bans Alex Jones.”
This whole thing is a hoax!
Nobody was banned!
All these people are just crisis actors!
Alex Jones’ taunting of Sen. Marco Rubio is his tacit acknowledgement that his media platforms are being pulled from underneath him, but his pathological need for attention continues.
I agree, they’re essentially the same.
I have always assumed the reason Alex Jones wasn’t booted is because Twitter admin knew the comparison was there, and that booting Jones very naturally prompts the question about Trump.
Twitter is reluctant to boot Trump for a few reasons:
- Trump is POTUS, so what he says is properly newsworthy, by definition
- Trump no doubt drives a substantial share of traffic – i.e. ad revenue – to Twitter, likely from an audience that would not otherwise spend much time on Twitter
I grant the first reason, although I think it’d be reasonable to ban Trump’s personal @realDonaldTrump account and insist that he use the official POTUS one (which I think is @POTUS).
As to the second one, Twitter is a for-profit business, so I think it’s not unreasonable for them to be sensitive to the revenue issue. Perhaps the cash incentive should not carry the argument, but we’d be fools to expect them to simply ignore it. I think this obviously leads into questions about how tech companies are supplanting the public square with privately-controlled for-profit gardens, but I don’t have an answer for you.
ETA: I wonder if Twitter will ban Trump after he leaves office. I’m certain he’ll keep spouting racist shit and grotesque invective (unless he’s in prison or dead).
no crisis … no crisis – You’re The CRISIS ! —
It appears @jack had some fear instilled in him yesterday.
Note: Previously he had personally overruled his own staff who wanted to ban Jones (Alex, not Chuck) and his Looney Tune conspiracy site.
All it takes is guts.
You don’t argue with bullies.
You don’t negotiate with them.
You don’t try to reason with them.
Hell, you don;t even TALK to them.
You just HIT them. Everytime you see them.
I was thinking the same. It took way to long but those slimes are finally getting what they deserve. The very fact that this is happening points to the populace waking up and having had enough. Finally.
That is not going to fly. One thing Republicans better be careful about it trying to stifle the free market. Corporations will rise up and smite them.
The only thing that Alex Jones has ever done that I liked, was seeing an animated version of him getting carted away in A Scanner Darkley.
Now if only we could get life to imitate art on that one.
I disagree. I think a truer analysis is that they keep digging because they understand much better than we just how stupid and blindered their base really is.
Eh, no.
You know with all the “free markets” and wealthy ass dudes on the right why haven’t they started their own Twitter or Facebook? Smaller government, less government intrusion into personal lives, less regulation, the company is always right, and other pablum the Right throws around would make a mighty fine business opportunity. They have a major news outlet, they own a network of TV stations in markets through out the US, so why not a Right Twix?
FWIW, that is something like saying that the ventriloquist will rise up and smite his own dummy.
